The property is beautiful and well appointed, but the staff is even better! Matthew at the front desk was charming, efficient, and made us feel so welcome. Deja is also an asset at the front desk. We truly enjoyed our stay.
Terrible! I am a Bonvoy member and have always had wonderful stays at Marriott hotels. I was working in chapel hill Friday thru Sunday at the hospital. I am a ER/ICU RN. I booked a stay for Friday and Saturday night. When I was leaving Sunday to go to work at 6am, no one was at the front desk for me to check out. I received my bill through email. Thought everything was fine. This morning, Monday, I wake up at home and get an email that I have been charged for Sunday night. My reservation did not include Sunday night and I did not stay Sunday night. I called the hotel at 8am and have called several times today. The manager is out every time I call and no one is willing to help me get my money back or make sure I don’t get charged again tonight. I have finally given up and canceled my credit card and turned it over to fraud through my bank to keep from getting charged again tonight. Incredibly unprofessional, and I will never stay at another Marriott again.
Critical care nurse here stayed for two nights. When leaving Sunday am no one was downstairs to check out with before needing to get to the hospital for work. My reservation was for Friday-Sunday. Woke up this am at home, Monday, and they charged me for a Sunday night stay although I wasn’t there and had not reserved a night for Sunday. Called at 0800 this am and can’t get the manager to call me back still at 11:00. Getting the run around and no one will fix me from getting charged again tonight or fixing getting charged last night. Incredibly unprofessional. Sheets were hard, no room service and after being promised several time that would make sure I would have caffeinated coffee instead of decaf in my room, that never happened either. Beyond frustrated. Be warned. I will never stay there again.
I’ve stayed here twice. Both times I’ve been disappointed by the cleanliness and general vibe of this hotel. They sneak a $10 parking charge per day if you park! The rooms are often missing essential items like towels, soaps, etc. the location is good and the price is reasonable but I’d recommend trying something else. Overall won’t stay here again.
Had a quick one night stay-very convenient location, near Meadowmont. Also convenient for anyone working or visiting UNC/hospital. There's on site parking ($10/night), though fee may be waived depending on Bonvoy status. The hotel is also along the free bus line that connects Chapel Hill and runs through campus. There are about 10-15 parking spaces outside and then a parking deck accessed by a security code. There are several restaurants, grocery store, and gas station all within walking distance. What I really love about this hotel are the trails. There's a pedestrian and bike path along the backside of the hotel that connects you to Meadowmont, a mile walk away, with other restaurants. There's also a pedestrian tunnel so that you don't have to cross the busy road. There's also a quiet and wooded food trail (not paved) around the Finley golf course, in front of the hotel. There are dog stations around the hotel and the paths. This is a dog friendly hotel, though I don't know about size or breed restrictions, if any. Complimentary coffee on the lobby in the morning. Fun, trendy atmosphere. Great place for out of town visits or a "staycation" for locals. Tip: even # rooms face inside, odd #s face out to the street (louder), though scenic on higher floors with the trees
I'm a long-time Marriott customer and use them whenever it is practical. Made a reservation months in advance for UNC commencement weekend, knowing that prices were 3X the normal rate. Called a week ahead to confirm room arrangements because I was concerned about number of guests and available rooms for that weekend. Arrived at about 7pm after 8+ hours driving, at which time they told me that the type of room that I reserved was not ready and it would be more than an hour wait. Okay, I know there are labor shortages and other issues now, so I settled for a smaller room. Lobby is contemporary and casual-friendly. Room was clean. HVAC came on in a loud burst each time it kicked in. Lighting is weird in these rooms - there's only two switches and you can't turn on the bathroom light without illuminating the whole room and waking people up.Went out relatively early on day after arrival and was gone all day. Came back to discover that room had not been cleaned/serviced. Called front desk and clerk brought up towels but couldn't get room cleaned. Totally unacceptable when paying more than $300 per night for a $100 room.
If you stay here pay close attention to your credit card activity. They charged my credit card an additional $106 after my stay. This charge was not included in my receipt when I checked out. I called the hotel, spoke to the manager and she told me it was a pending charge that would clear in a couple of days. When the pending charge did not clear, I called back 3 days later and spoke to a different person, also claiming to be the manager. This manager could not find record of this additional charge. He made no additional efforts, no apology, no explanation for the charge. The staff is very otherwise friendly and helpful. The hotel is moderately clean. The pool is ok, not very well maintained.
I love love love the Aloft chain. These hotels are dog friendly and on the verge of catering to the pups which I'm a huge fan of. Each one is unique... This one actually host adoptable rescue dogs that guests can interact with. They treated my parent's dogs incredibly well. The rooms were fantastic as well.
Hotel was clean, energetic and the staff was over the top! The staff acted as if they just finished a hospitality class, from the front desk, bar, house keeping, etc. This is what I’m sure the corporate offices are hoping all the Aloft locations are like. Well done staff and management!
I have stayed here several times. It is close to the family I have in the area, relatively clean, modern, and reasonably priced. You can also bring your dog.My suggestion is to get a twin room, even if you are traveling solo. It is so much bigger and more spacious.
