I’ve been a customer here going back at least 5 years. Josiah runs an excellent LOCAL coffee and doughnut shop that is delicious. Why go to Starbucks or other Corporate America spots when you can have the real deal and help Boone thrive? A quality spot, quality food and beverage, and friendly staff who want to get to know you! Did I mention this place is LOCAL?
I heard about this coffee shop from a friend. It was absolutely Incredible. Natalie the Barista was extremely kind, and helped my husband and I find exactly what we wanted. Amazing!!!
Wonderful coffee and their glazed donuts are to die for. Always come in the morning when it's hot and fresh. Everyone is extremely polite and even remember my regular orders! The gentleman that helped me today, Henry I believe his name is, encouraged me to get out my comfort zone and even recommended me a new drink to try! Awesome service and will be back!

Coffee is great. Check out the donuts too! The atmosphere is perfect for sitting down to work for a couple of hours. Hooray for a good local spot in Boone!
Local Lion is a must, whether you're a local, or just visiting from out of town. The drinks are brilliantly & deliciously concocted, & their doughnuts are incredible. It's even better that they support other local small businesses, & charities with their business. I will absolutely be patronizing this bakery café every time I find myself in Boone, NC ?
Stopped in upon the recommendation of a friend to try out their homemade donuts and Home roasted coffee. I'm a trained Barista and home espresso enthusiast of >17 yrs, really picky about espresso. This place was great, super cozy, slightly off the beaten path. The pricing was lower than I thought it should have been, so hat tip to them for being so modest. Their donuts can hang with the old standbys of inner city New York, definitely better than any chain. So if you want gourmet espresso base drinks and donuts in a super cozy hang out environment, make this place a destination.
coffee is good but their smoothies are NASTY. they use some fruit concentrate blended with whole milk and it tastes like drinking strawberry jelly. they didn’t ask me for a milk preference and i don’t drink whole milk- i obviously didn’t know the smoothie was going to be 99% whole milk. I tried to be polite to the barista and ask for another drink and he was very rude and said he would remake the same drink for me but not a different one. i don’t understand the logic there but whatever just don’t get the “smoothies” (in the pic you can see the ingredients separating)
Local lion is definitely my favorite coffee shop in the whole world. The vibe inside is spectacular and they make their donuts in house at 3 am that day and they taste fantastic. All the drinks are really good too and they're very reasonably priced. Definitely a must visit in Boone
This is an outstanding online retailer, and David, the owner, offers exceptional customer service. When delivery of the coffee grinder I ordered hit a snag in the manufacturer's warehouse -- through no fault of Captain's Coffee -- David immediately went to bat with the company's rep to address the issue and break the log jam. His communication was terrific, clear and direct, and even though my delivery was delayed -- again, through no fault of David or his company -- I was very happy with the experience, and would not hesitate to purchase again from him. On top of everything, David is just a really nice fellow, and it was a pleasure to work with him. You could not find a better online retailer. A+++.
