Zen is my favorite spot to get sushi in Asheville. I love the location and the easy parking. Staff are friendly and quick. I can be in and out during lunch within 30 minutes.The sushi is incredible. I've had everything from the basic rolls and several of the speciality rolls. Have loved everything.Have went through many of the appetizers and a few of the menu items. Would definitely recommend.
We were visiting Burnsville NC and had to run to Asheville for fresh trout from a shop below Zen and we were hungry for lunch and we decided to try out the Zen Sushi, they were very nice as they were closing tables down for the day. They did seat us and what a delight!!! It was awesome!! The food was very fresh and so tasty!! Good prices too! Will definitely return when we visit Asheville again!! Keep up the great work!!!
I just love Zen Sushi. I started going there way back in 2003 and it is always delicious. The owner and staff are friendly and attentive and we always have a pleasurable experience. We love the lunch specials!
Great atmosphere, amazing food! The soup was very good and the vegetarian sushi was amazing! 10/10 can't wait to go back when I'm in Asheville again!
We ordered $60 worth of food. 12 pieces of sushi, one hibachi steak plate, a small miso soup and a side of rice is 60 bucks. Seems pretty steep.. Small portions aside, the flavors of the foods and the sauces were outstanding. The takeout containers were all plastic - as was the container carrying the hot soup, which I am not a fan of hot food coming into contact with plastic containers.You'd think for the prices that you'd receive more food in better quality to-go containers.
I told the server I had a gluten allergy, they have a menu that marks things as gluten free or not. I ordered 3 avocado rolls (marked as gluten free) I was almost finished eating them when I realized they were covered in bread crumbs hidden on the bottom. I got very sick after eating, I informed the server and he still handed me the check to pay. If your sensitive to gluten or have a gluten allergy. DO NOT EAT HERE.
In my opinion, this is the best sushi joint in Asheville. That’s not to say that if you’re someone who has frequented lots of sushi restaurants abroad, this will rival the best of the best for you, but if you want fresh sushi and friendly service, this is your place. The food comes out fairly quickly even when the dining room is full and the menu provides a lot of options. My favorite is the Passion Roll but I haven’t tried a roll that I didn’t like. The servers are fast and friendly. Overall, it is a super reliable experience which is highly appreciated in this post-pandemic reality where quality food and service is no guarantee.
I ordered take out the other night and was pretty disappointed. The rice was lukewarm and kind of hard. The miso soup was cold. I also ordered a sweet potato roll from them which was actually pretty good. I order these same things from Green Tea on patton and the quality is worlds better + the food is always hot!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville, and the only place we venture for sushi. The waiter, Danny, is so so kind and always remembers us when we come in. He makes special toddler friendly chopsticks for our little one (whose favorite food is avocado sushi), and just makes the experience so special for her, which makes it special for us! Couldn't recommend this place enough!!!
Average at best.Service was subpar. 1 waiter working and took a long time to get check.Sushi was decent at best as well. I’ll never go back. They didn’t even have the lights on inside, literally. Everyone ate in the dark , or what light shined in from outside.
