We stopped at UJ for a late dinner. We just walked up and grabbed an outdoor table. Service was very friendly and helpful. The biggest problem I had was choosing from the great menu. The avocado tacos were great and I was surprised that I also liked the Impossible burger. I usually find the meat substitute to be too rich and overwhelming, but all the fresh veggies and added cheddar made it just perfect. Tater tots with some BBQ really rounded out the meals. Others in our group were really happy with the fish Reuben and the buffalo burger.I definitely plan to return and try the tofu tacos and some of the beer or cider on tap.Universal Joint is a great, casual place to meet up with friends or even have a family meal.
We had just arrived in Asheville and it was late but we were hungry and we asked our hotel concierge to recommend a place to eat and she suggested the Universal Joint! We're so glad we decided to try it!! Because of the late hour we decided to have salads one topped with fish and the other with grilled chicken; SOOOO delicious and so filling! We'll definitely stop in again next time we're in Asheville!
Was in town for 2 days. Didn’t realize a lot of restaurants closed at 9. Googled places to eat that were open and ended up choosing/finding Universal Joint. I ordered a Swiss mushroom burger and it was really good and flavorful. The fries were perfectly crispy and hot. I got a side of cheese curds and the breading was flavorful with a little kick. Portions were big . Relaxing outdoor atmosphere. Waitress attentive and friendly. Definitely will come again if I’m back in the area.
So happy we found this place. Great for dining outside especially because of all the shade and the trees. Service was wonderful and food was amazing. A little on the pricey side (fried okra appetizer was $10) but will definitely be dining there again.Also have a great drink selection. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try!
I’ve been here a number of times and always had a good experience. The bartenders and wait staff are on top of it. They have a good burger and menu. They have a good selection of local beers and more. It’s a great late night place that serves food later too.
My boyfriend and I had a great experience!! We ordered the nachos as an appetizer, a chicken sandwich, and a burger! EVERYTHING was fantastic from the food to the service. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a go.
Our Burgers were great and our Server—Wes was top notch! The avocado appetizer was a little odd-probably wouldn’t get it again. But the burgers were to DIE FOR. I got the mushroom & Swiss burger and my husband got the California Bison Burger. We ran across this place when the place we were looking for was closed for refurb! We will be back! Thanks y’all!
This place is so good that I didn't even realize that it was a chain. It's got a real good dive bar kind of feel and food that is much better than it has to be. The atmosphere is great and the staff was amazing. I can't say enough good things and I can't wait to come back!
We got the Monday special smoked wings, & asked for them extra crispy… best wings I’ve ever had. Burgers are amazing too, I’m gluten free & the gf options were great. Honestly best meal I’ve had in a while. Our server, Wesley, was also incredible. We never went without & always had what we needed. 100% will be going back here soon!! Would give it more than 5 stars if I could.
I read a review that said, "Best Burger Ever." So I tried the Bacon Cheeseburger with Tater Tots. I don't know if it was the best ever, but it was really delicious. Three slices of crispy thick slice bacon atop a generous beef pattie with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. Cooked perfect. The others in my party got Chicken Phillies and Sweet Potato tots. Loved the ambience, service was good and friendly. I would eat here again.
