After our taxi dropped us off at the wrong place, the host at the Market Place gave us great walking directions and a nice greeting when we arrived! We had allowed time for a cocktail before our dinner reservations and were pleased to see all sorts of fresh fruit and other ingredients for craft cocktails at the bar. After enjoying our cocktail, we were seated at a nice table and our server took care of us the rest of the night. He recommended a great bottle of wine (their wine list is VERY reasonably priced) and we enjoyed a blended version of their cheese and charcuterie boards. This appetizer is easy to serve for most restaurants, but this one was spectacular. The combinations of flavors - pickled ramps (I wanted an entire jar), several distinct cheese options, country ham, fried almonds, relish and jam were all so delish! Our entrees did not disappoint either. House made pappardelle with lamb ragout topped with arugula and shredded cheese was out of this world! I'm generally not a lamb fan, but this was so tender and flavorful with no gaminess. My husband had the tile fish over rice with a green curry sauce. The curry added a nice kick to the dish, but was not overwhelming. And then dessert was perfect! Brownie with brown sugar ice cream and a toasted marshmallow fluff was so balanced and luscious! It's been a long time since I was this impressed with a restaurant. I just wish they had a retail shop for pickled ramps and homemade pasta!!
The food and service are outstanding! It's a must go
My husband and I went here for brunch during our anniversary trip, and it was beyond worth it! The food was absolutely amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was romantic. I'll definitely come here again!
Food was below average . The collards were soaked in vinegar and were not edible⦠I like acid, but please taste your food prior to sending out to your guests⦠By the way, collards came out as a 2nd course and not as a side to our entreeâ. The quail dish had more red onion than quail. The papparadelle, the sauce was delicious but the pasta was old. Market Place came highly recommended. Sad whatâs happened to this restaurant. Servers & bartenders were distracted because they were in the middle of a drama fueled gossip festival.
The food, service & ambience were great. We would definitely return
Great meal! Our server was extremely pleasant & knowledgeable!
This is a very nice restaurant with creative cuisine and interesting flavors. In the end it was a bit mixed- some food was very good to our palates and some just ok. They were responsive on the phone and very welcoming on arrival. Service was very friendly and well informed, but they were understaffed so we had to wait for things. No fault of the server, and yes everyone is understaffed these days, but if I am tipping $100 for service, I expect a bit more (maybe I am just living in the pre-covid world).
So disappointing. Place looks great and staff is a joy - I just wished their food held up. Each dish had some nice elements but if you are raving more about the three slices of pickle on the side rather than the main item on the plate, then time to reconsider how things are prepared. Cocktails were quite good - I recommend stopping by for a drink, enjoy the atmosphere and delight in some wonderful conversations with the bartender... but eat elsewhere!
Sending our girls off to college
We were in town on vacation and the Market Place was recommended to us. It did not disappoint. We would definitely go back.
