Appearance of the restaurant when my family and I entered was disappointing, the floors were disgusting. The staff all stood around talking, the cooks were in the back talking and joking around while on the phone (this was while we were waiting on the food). When the food did arrive it all looked good, at first. I order the Hurricane role and was extremely disappointed, it honestly tasted like canned fish. My boyfriend did say his burger was good but out of everything that was it. Definitely not worth the money.
The Vegan, a burger made with a Beyond Meat patty, is very good, slathered with grilled onions and mushrooms and topped generously with eel sauce (thickened golden brown soy sauce and caramelized sugar). I also add cheddar cheese to mine, and I think it’s well worth an extra buck. This baby is a major umami bomb, and I found it most satisfying. If they would add a few more vegetarian/vegan entrees to the menu, they’d easily earn that fifth star.
BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!! American & Japanese (burgers & sushi) can't go wrong with any of their sushis. They all taste great! I recommend one of the boxes. Great price with the amount of food you get. Quick & friendly service.
I was a little hesitant to try this restaurant (sushi and burgers?)I was pleasantly surprised. The menu was short and to the point. My server, Chloe, answered all of my questions about the menu and made suggestions. My sushi was fresh and delicious! The service was good, but could have been better. I chalked it up to a newer business that was working out the details. The hostess was very friendly and Chloe greeted me within a reasonable time. The prices were in-line with what I would expect for fresh sushi.I will return to try other things on the menu!
Never been here before wanted to try something different and I myself don't eat seafood because of the smell it just isn't my thing... so I wanted to try something different and I did with the rice crispy and the octopus balls which to find were very delicious I enjoyed them and will oder them again...the burger and salad were good just couldn't finish because we got full hahah...the staff were very welcoming.. 100 out of 100...thank you
So glad we discovered this place! A friend and I had hamburgers and IMO they were perfect - nice thick patty with the right texture (grind) and fat content, cooked exactly as we ordered (medium rare in one case, medium well in the other). The french fries were as good as I've had anywhere - nice and crunch on the outside with a soft center. The server was friendly and cordial (as was the manager) and was attentive without being intrusive. And, the restaurant was nowhere near as noisy as many others here. There are around a dozen different hamburgers on the menu - and they all look enticing (and are reasonably priced). My friend and I agreed that we should meet at the Madness monthly, trying out these many choices.
Awesome place much needed on this side of town. Food was delicious and a good selection of craft beer and mixed drinks ! Could be my new favorite spot !
Madness -- its full name is The Madness Asheville - Sushi, Burgers, and Bar -- brings a little hip and an eclectic menu to the western end of West Asheville, in the growing colony of strip centers along the Smoky Park Highway. You can choose from, among other things, a variety of very good sushi rolls, dumplings, spring rolls, wings, big fat burgers, wraps, salads, along with mixed drinks and beer. My partner likes the regular bento box, a combo Asian-American meal that includes sushi, a beef slider, a dumpling or two, edamame and a (small) salad for about $15, or get more choices with the Madness bento box at $18. Madness does have a little outdoor patio seating on the side.
The person who makes the sushi here seriously has a gift, all rolls were absolutely delicious! Would 100% recommend and can’t wait for more next time!
Love the juxtaposition of burger and sushi, both being very tasty here.
