Have always loved The Hop and was happy to see vegan options after having to go dairy free. Honestly, the vegan flavors aren't great. A couple were ok. Today in Black Mountain we had the mango sorbet. It didn't taste of mango at all, had a weird after taste as well. We talked to the guy working there and his response was that it tasted like mango to him. That was it. Not so impressed with customer service either.
Absolutely amazing. The line was long but it didn't take as long as you would expect it to. Apparently they change the flavors available every day or every few days. Not sure which but that's actually a interesting idea. I had some aztec chocolate ice cream, never had it before but I loved it. Staff were extremely nice and would answer any questions you have about the flavors. They also have dairy free ice cream so there's that.

Two stars for having non-dairy ice cream options Vegan ice cream was too icy and not good compared to other vegan ice cream out there. Also, the portion sizes were quite small considering the price. The staff was nice, though.
This has been my favorite ice cream shop since I was 2 and my mom started taking me there. She spent Friday nights in high school eating ice cream at The Hop under the old owners in the old location. It's still the best ice cream shop around and we eat here at least once a month, and buy the cartons at Earth Fare. BEST VEGAN ICE CREAM EVER.
Super disappointed. The vanilla had no flavor - literally. None. The waffle cone was going stale as well…The “cookie party” flavor was alright. Not worth my ten bucks overall…
Outstanding ice cream! Not much more to say. It's almost always busy, especially at night or on a weekend, but that's just a testament to how good it is. Loads of options for most all nutrition plans and dietary needs including Soy milk based, vegan and vegetarian options, lactose free, coconut, hemp, and oat milk. Not to mention the wild and fun flavors that are unique to the shop. It's one of Asheville's staples. I recommend going here lol So good.
