Met Dano (great guy!) and had some excellent Creole fare outside Highlands Brewery. Couldn't recommend it more highly!
We had dinner from Root Down while at New Belguim brewery. First, I was annoyed that the menu they had posted online was not the same one they were serving. I'm vegetarian, so it's annoying to be stuck with a bean burger. I was also SO SAD to not get any banana pudding... hmmph. The burger was fine. Friends got the chicken sandwich, with a watermelon salad (it was supposed to be some flavored something but was just watermelon). Not sure how these dishes are creole but whatever. Drinks and sides are separate. The food wasn't bad, but I think I could have more food for $10 thank just a burger with no chips or fries, and drink sold separate. I will say the service was great. The lady was nice, prompt, and gave us everything we needed (napkins, etc). If you're determined to eat at New Belguim, go for it, I guess. Otherwise, maybe get dinner elsewhere.
Wonderful food and verity. Very friendly and hard working staff. Wonder verity of food even gluten free options and vegan options. Priced very reasonable. Don’t miss the opportunity to go you won’t be disappointed
I’ve only listened to Kyle on the podcast she cohosts with Erin Holt and love the podcast! I’m from New England but love Kyle’s story all the recommendations she makes and her sense of humor!
If you have a chance to eat from the root down truck, take it! Their fried chicken sandwich is AMAZING. So is their shrimp maison. Enjoy their cuisine. You will not be disappointed!
Root Down is a must if you're in Asheville, especially if you love visiting a brewery and having some good food to go with your beer! My favorite meal I had when my husband and I were in Asheville was their lamb sliders. Not only is it GREAT food it's at a great price. The day before my husband and I dropped $100 bucks at a restaurant for just average food. Root Down had unique food that is beyond delicious and you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good meal!
