Extremely condescending server who tried to upsell us 7 times throughout the meal. The food was not good and way too overpriced. Very disappointing.
The food was wonderful and the service was wonderful. The caprese salad was to die for and Tyler was and exceptional server. It was a great way to celebrate a birthday and a nice spot for 2.
The food was so delicious and fresh as always. Unfortunately, Darrin, our waiter, put in the wrong food order for me so my friend had almost finished her lunch by the time my correct order arrived. He did apologize but it was disappointing. Timing is everything!
We were excited to visit Modestos after tasting the food on a food tour. When we arrived we were seated promptly but waited 16 minutes before anyone came to our table to even say hello. We were not the only couple to experience this. All of the couples in our section waited a good amount of time and one got up and left. After observing the way they were running the seating process. The servers did not have sections and were running all over the place. Having worked in the service industry myself, I know this is not a best practice and leads to delayed service. Once our server got to us the service was much better. The food though was disappointing. They talk about how they specialize in seafood but the seafood we experienced was over cooked, fishy tasting and rubbery. On the dish I had the scallops were so over cooked I had to use a knife to cut them. We will be going back but will stick to the regular pasta dishes like the eggplant Parmesan.
Rude hostess, over seated server, poor management and over priced food. Clearly they know they can get away with this due to being a tourist town and they donât have to rely on loyal regulars. I owned and operated a restaurant for over 18 years and have worked in the industry for over 40 so I carefully picked this place for a special occasion and was thoroughly disappointed. The only positive was we shared their screw up with Asheville homeless population.

One of the best meals we had in Asheville. We had a great waiter who knew the menu, both food and wine. After dinner, I request an odd cocktail I like and the bartender was able to make it perfectly. We sat outside and the evening weather was perfect. It was very nice to have dishes that featured ingredients that are difficult to find that are well prepared.
The food was excellent but the timing of our main course was staggered by a considerable amount leaving one of us to start without the other. They should have held up until both dishes were complete. It effected what was otherwise a very good experience
My husband and I are Asheville residents and choose to eat at Modesto whenever we can. The food is some of the best in Asheville. There is a wide variety of choices and all are excellent quality and preparation.
