Fantastic old time BBQ. Surprised us how good the “broasted” chicken was. Sides also excellent — ESPECIALLY the hush puppies! Wow!! Get the combo bbq/chicken plate and leave with a smile. ??
It wasn’t the worst bbq I’ve ever had, but it was close. There was no flavor. Even the sauce was bland. The coleslaw and potato salad were bland. It’s like they are afraid to use seasonings. If you want cheap and quick this is the place to go. If you want food that tastes good, hop on the freeway and go to Phil’s in Black Mountain.
Delicious! Regular BBQ plate was good amount. The BBQ sandwich was terrific. Chicken was also great. Service was great and fast. We(4)went for early dinner and not too busy ~3-4. I forgot to take a pic but ate everything on my plate.
The oldest BBQ restaurant in Asheville does not disappoint! They don't have a huge array of sauces, just the two classics, but they seem to be well loved. Meals start around $6 for a sandwich. With a side and drink, I'd plan on around $12 per person. The staff was friendly and the hush puppies were great.Vegetarian options: Although Little Pigs is an Asheville icon, I would not recommend it for vegetarians.Kid-friendliness: This is a great place for kids. Not only did they seem welcome by staff and patrons, there is a wealth of Asheville celebrity history on the walls Parking: There is a nice, flat parking area. There was plenty of room for an odd time on Friday, but it might get a little full when they are really busy.Wheelchair accessibility: I don't think you would have any problem in the parking lot or inside the building with a wheelchair.
Best chicken in Asheville! While this old school true Asheville classic is the oldest running BBQ joint in Asheville, it is the broasted chicken that is the true draw. Don’t miss out! Coke products, plenty of free parking. Convenient to Mission Hospital & Biltmore Village.
Small older place with character. Counter service food, took all of five minutes to get. Ribs did fall off the bone. Slaw and beans average. Hush puppies good. All this quick and easy for about $10
First time in Asheville. We weren't very familiar with the area so we tried to stay close the hotel. We drove in past Little Pigs and I always try to enjoy local BBQ everywhere we go. After some convincing my wife agreed and boy was she happy. They have the most delicious, crispy, juicy broasted chicken. We had dinner for 2 adults including sides and hush puppies that were a meal themselves. for under $30.00. Couldn't have been a better first experience with food in Asheville. After visiting so many places in the 6 days we ere there we decided that we had to return to Little Pigs our last night there for a chicken dinner one more time. When we return to Asheville this will once again be out first stop and last.
This is a great option for a cheap meal with good quality product. It's counter service and has been in business since 1963. It lacks for nothing as the line moved steadily, and you most definitely can tell they have their regulars. My fiancé and I split a bbq and chicken breast plate for $12 & some change. It included baked beans, potato salad, and 3 hush puppies. We subbed fries in lieu of the potato salad. With the chicken, you get choice of fried thigh or breast + dark or white meat. This is self seating. She calls out your name for your order and you pay at a separate location than from where you place your order. BBQ sauces was really good and they have them for purchase if you wish to take it home.If you're wheelchair bound, please know the bathrooms are not exactly ADA accessible. The establishment has booths on one side and table on the other. Small parking lot, but still enough for you to park. We came in at peak lunch and there were spots available.Overall, solid experience for good cheap eats.
Good BBQ plates but don't get the ribs. Taste like pressure cooked ribs u would make at home smothered in too much BBQ sauce. Not BBQ restaurant quality smoked ribs u wound expect from that type of place. Especially one thats been in asheville for so long. They got nothing on Moe's when it comes to ribs. Seems the fried chicken is the best thing at this BBQ place.
Come and get the best fried chicken you’ll ever have- no joke! You walk up to the counter, put in your order, sit down and there you have it. The best part - no pretentious fakey fake vibe, and no tourists. Almost concerned with writing a review…. I don’t want to ruin it.
