amazing food would go back again and again ?

They charged me a cover charge after I had been seated for 20 mins because they didn’t want to pay their doorman for more than 30 mins before the band started to take cover charged at the door.

Love the staff. They treat you like family. My Shepherd Pie was wonderful, Susan said her’s had some cold spots in it. She ate it all however! That’s my girl….

Stopped in for a beer and a quick bite while visiting Asheville. Great atmosphere, beer selection, and food was pretty good too. Had the privilege of live, local entertainment while there

The bar is rustic and friendly. However, the staff is not. I paid my tab and the bartender asked “ in cash?!?” As if it was some foreign currency. I told her yes and she took the cash ( tip included , not assumed ) , never said thank you but instead crumbled the receipt facing away from me and proceeded to chat with a couple she knew. I felt it was incredibly rude.I continued to finish my drink and leave. Restrooms have chalkboard walls which is cool, but I wouldn’t return. Honest opinion.

Stopped in for a quick dinner and stayed for trivia night. Much fun but beware of the “regular” teams. Heck who scores 29/30 right in trivia??? Unexpected good time anyway. Great music Thurs-sun. Philly cheesesteak was perfect.

What fun this place was! The husband and I popped in for a drink (or 3) and a snack. Our bartender was Melissa -- she is outstanding! She makes the most amazing drinks (if you like coconut rum and fruity, she is your gal). I swear she didn't stop for a second, and neither did the guy she was working with. They were constantly refilling drinks and making everyone feel at home. The bar seems a bit small; I prefer to use the word "cozy", because the people are fantastic and friendly. The band we saw -- Supper Break, a bluegrass band -- was great fun. They pulled out some awesome oldies as well as played some of their own originals. (We didn't go to the back end of the place, so I can't say what was back there.) We're already making plans to come visit Asheville again. If we do, Jack of the Wood is back on our list!

Great bar, great staff, local feel with some added Irish music on a Sunday afternoon. Such a friendly place for both locals and out-of-towners.

Great food, good entertainment. And an awesome staff! Melissa and Austin were the Best!

Our bartender was very attentive and fun, we liked him very much. We got the buffalo chicken fries and they were stupendous. The selection of beers wasn't my favorite, but we found some that we liked. We enjoyed the live music that was happening all day long - on a Saturday. All in all a really great experience.
