Okay their iced vanilla latte is tasty and refreshing! Mmm. But their breakfast burrito and lunch burritos are tasteless, overpriced & not worth eating even when you're hungry AF. The almond butter brownie is pretty good honestly. The cookies aren't the best I've had but are interesting. The oatmeal cookie is really yummy and sweet!!
Not sure what has happened with this cafe, but their Buddha Bowl, which used to be one of my favorites, has gone down hill. Not sure what happened to the "crispy" chickpeas because they have not been "crispy" for months now! The "crispy" chickpeas is part of what made the Buddha bowl so good. Today was another soft, gross chickpea serving with way too much carrots, way too little kale and a major disappointment. It was nothing like the Buddha bowls used to be. I will not be going back to this cafe. And it is pricey for being disappointed for the 3rd time! Yuck!
Would be five stars for the food alone but the service ruins the experience nearly every time. This would probably be my favorite restaurant in Asheville if not for the horrendous service that continues to prove their incompetence visit after visit. I’ve been here a dozen times or more but am through letting my optimism allow me to go again. They clearly need new management capable of hiring even modestly competent workers.
My recent experience at the Merrimon store was absolutely excellent!! The burger with Hickory Nut Gap on their ciabatta roll clearly was the best burger I’ve eaten in a very long time if not ever! All the menu items are extremely healthy for you and very delicious. I couldn’t get enough of “THAT”insanely delicious Tabbouleh rice side order, and would love to be able to buy it by the pound. My hats off to the amazing quality work of the chefs. I highly recommend their breakfast fare too. Don’t stop at the food menu because the drinks hot and cold and the juices are oh soooo good!
Pros: The food was alright.Cons: The coffee was okay. The menu was really hard to read unless you're at the counter. The self service sugar and cream was empty. There was no soap in the mens restroom. The urinal was broken. The napkin dispenser was empty. The service was very slow. The food took a long time to come out.The portion size was small. They automatically took a 10% tip fee and then ask for an additional tip.Numerous tables weren't cleaned after customers left in an excess for 45 minutes
Places like the Green Sage always catch our attention when travelling since my daughter needs to eat at places with vegan options. The Green Sage offers salads, soups, pastries, salads, and a variety of beverages. My daughter ordered the matcha latte with a pastry, and I ordered avocado toast served in ciabatta bread- yum! My husband ordered a coffee which he said was barely warm. The food and selections were decent; our disappointment was the tepid coffee and the addition of a service charge on the bill. This is not a sit-down service place! Then, in addition to tacking on a service charge, the cashier's screen invites the customer to tip--What?!! Moreover, we ordered a coffee to go for my husband's sister which was $6!! Not sure we'd ever go back--but if we do, I will not tip if I see a service charge already added to the bill. Isn't that what a tip is? This place is pricey for what it is.
We had a delicious lunch during our first visit to Green Sage this week. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was fresh, plentiful, and priced fairly (and they pay a living wage!). Try a bowl, for sure, but don’t miss the vegan baked goods. The chocolate chip cookie was amazing.
Nice place, committed to providing a living wage to workers. Had a tasty latte. Lots of good options for vegetarians, allergy-friendly menu.
They’ve increased their price it seems like 3 times, plus service fee and expect a tip when I’m literally picking up to go??? $28.80 for 2 breakfast burritos??? I’ve been supporting this business for years, but no longer. I understand cost are goin up, but I’ve been in the restaurant business my entire life. This place is going for the money grab, and using increased pricing to their advantage! Bye!
Food is always great! I also had the privilege today of witnessing the staff ACTUALLY ENFORCE their mask policy, even when getting threatened by two beligerent customers. As I continue to look for safer places to eat, Green Sage South will absolutely be on my list in the future.
