The setting is beautiful and the buffet was ample with enough specialty dishes to keep it interesting. But, a buffet doesnât provide the best in freshly-prepared food. Our visit was prime rib night. The prime rib was certainly very good, but other entreeâs were ok⦠(mole chicken, fish, chili, etc.). The utensils are used a lot by patrons and I would have liked to have seen them changed out frequently.

On our reservation, we were asked if it was a special occasion. We noted that it was. We were congratulated by the host as she informed us out table was not yet ready. We did have to wait an additional 15 minutes. This was not a huge deal. We ran into friends who were also celebrating their anniversary. For some reason they received a much better table, window seat away from the commotion while we were sat in the middle of the dining hall RIGHT next to the service station which was very loud and a bit annoying. Our friends were given a complementary bottle of champagne, we were not. Our server came over with a dessert and said congratulations only at the end of our meal after we had already eaten dessert we had gotten ourselves (this was a buffet experience) This is the second time we have had a less than stellar experience at the Grove Park. This experience was miles better than our last however it is clear they do not care about Asheville locals and in general need better training for their staff across the board.
Incredible service and food. We loved our server and the hostess made sure we had great seats for our anniversary. 10/10 recommend!!
The quality of the food was not quite what it has been in past trips, but still good and enjoyable. But the ambience is still quite spectacular.
