Great place for foodies! Food was great. Just a bit too much salt in two of our dishes- the cauliflower app and salmon cakes. Would recommend this place!
So good! The cornbread and pork belly small plates were so delicious. Expect a complex mixture of flavors beyond what one would expect in every dish. We ate on the back patio and it felt like we were miles from the city.
Disappointed the patio was not opened since we requested it. Otherwise a very nice dinner.
A party of 6 of us dined here for lunch. I had wanted to go for a long time. The lunch menu had seven dishes to choose from, and we tried all but the hot chicken sandwich. The oyster po-boy was a five star dish; the burger seemed to be as well. Kale salad and fried green tomatoes were also excellent. The pork belly and the watermelon salad were full of flavor. However, it seemed these two dishes were both missing something - perhaps a carb to soak up some of the oil with on the pork, and for the watermelon salad itâs hard to say. Although, the watermelon itself was perfect. Service staff was great. The order took a bit longer than expected. The price was fair for the quality. Looking forward to having dinner there.
Lunch reservation at noon for indoors. Hostess was pleasant. Server initially had the vibe of "Ugh. Can't believe I have the lunch shift today." She wasn't rude, but there was no indication that she was happy we were there. She warmed a little as the meal went on, but that first impression was tainted our whole experience. The burgers and chicken sandwich were good, even if my burger was salty. Also, I get it--it's an fancy restaurant, but when eating burgers with tater tots (which were excellent), having 1 oz metal cups 1/3 filled with ketchup feels stingy. I liked the feel of the place. Open. Not too noisy. Heavy/solid décor. The prices are higher than I'd expect: $19 for a burger? Maybe I should look at it as the pleasure of paying airport prices without having to go to the airport. I don't know. Asheville is a great town, especially for restaurants. But this place, with the server who initially could just tolerate us to the prices to stingy ketchup...it felt like this place was focused on itself rather than being focused on the customer. If you're interested in the opposite of this place, drive 2.5 hours to Charlotte and sit in a booth at the Landmark diner on Central Ave. There, a server who is at least 30 will treat you like you've shown up at their house for dinner. You can peruse the tome of a menu, and that server will bring stuff you didn't even know you were going to need (extra napkins, a basket of bread, to-go boxes). They make you feel like their main goal for that hour is to be sure you're comfortable and well cared for. Benne on Eagle? Our experience made me feel like I was supposed to be grateful I got to eat there.
Overall service was great food was ok
Once we were seated staff didnât seem to work a section they bounced all around. This made getting drinks and other things non existent, ordered wine with meal had to stop eating so that I had food when my wine came. Staff seemed ti be attentive just poor management of staff in my opinion
I grew up in Asheville and was back visiting for a jazz festival. I knew of Benneâs and looking forward to dining there. The service, food and hospitality was superb! We even tipped the chef. So proud of my town!
Great food, ambience and service. Thanks Benne!
We were very disappointed with our experience. Although our drinks were good, everything else tasted terrible and/or was extremely overpriced. The staff: while some were friendly, our server was inattentive and visibly annoyed. It really sucked to drop over two hundred dollars and most of us not even fill our bellies.
