This is by FAR the best sushi (and all their other food) around! We lived closer to them, then we moved to Hendersonville (30-40 min away) last year and tried every sushi spot that was closer... Asheville Sushi has ruined us because we can't eat anywhere else but there. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is so nice and the people are just great! It's like a well kept secret, but the secret needs to be spread!
We visited here to try some of their thai options, particularly the Pad Thai. I have rarely ever experienced a place not do Pad Thai correctly, but this honestly tasted nothing like Pad Thai. We aren't locals so I suspect probably the sushi might be the better option here (hence the business name). Probably should have went with that instead, or one of the hibachi selections.It was pretty quiet when we visited, but the seating is comfortable and the decor is pretty cool. The service is also very good. It seemed to have a lot of promise so we were surprised and disappointed when the food arrived. Other than that, we'd probably visit again to try some of the sushi or hibachi meals, but definitely not the noodles or other thai options.
The food was just not good. The sushi was super chunky and smelled like it had been left out overnight, steak was massively over cooked(not that they even asked how We wanted it cooked), fried rice was bland at best, and the soup was cold. Even the drinks tasted like they had been left out overnight. The service was a bit insulting. We mentioned that the sushi did not taste good and was not what we were hoping for when we decided to try the restaurant, and were told to “just order something else next time”. There will not be a next time. Definitely a reason we were one of only 3 tables taken up at 7pm on a Saturday.
Food and service were excellent. Will definitely eat here again.
The best sushi I ever had in South Asheville. The presentation is gorgeous and the service is great. We highly recommend and will be back soon!
My fav place to go for sushi!!! The sogo Shrimp appetizer is also delicious. The presentation of the sushi is beautiful. And the Customer service is great as well. I’ll definitely be back.

Lifetime ashevillian here…. I have searched this town for amazing fresh sushi… this place is some of the best sushi I have had in my life. The service was amazing, the staff friendly and incredible, and do yourself a favor and get dinner there!!
No Second Chance From First Time Customer. Large order had both hibachi items and sushi. I arrived at scheduled pick up time (50 minutes after order). They said dine-in had been busy and they needed 10 more minutes. Thirty minutes later I got the order. When I arrived home it was obvious the hibachi items had been prepared on time as they were ice cold and chicken tempura was undercooked. Sushi experience was no better. Fish wasn’t fresh and had no taste. I’ll not return and I’m still on the hunt for good sushi in Asheville.
best pork gyoza ive ever had!! so much flavor and perfect texture. sashimi is always wonderful aswell
