excellent food and great service
Let me say this the pics make the food look real good . For starters the bbq plate was a failed attempt at bbq ! It appeared to be pulled loin then was served with a thick bbq sauce like one would expect on bbq chicken or ribs . That might pass in other parts of the country but not in NC . Then there was the wings which would have been good if not for the fact that they was over fried . The cheese steak had great bread but not enough in the middle for bread that thick . the fries came out under cooked. Not sure if they was having a bad night . Unfortunately it was bad enough that we wont be back . I literally had better bbq from a gas station grill this week . We was really wanting this to be a new go to on a regular place .
Was in town for business, and passed this place on the way. Decided to stop in on the way back, as I saw they serve breakfast all day.I got the biscuits and gravy, my husband got the breakfast platter with eggs, sausage, hash browns, and gravy biscuits.Food was so delicious. The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant is lovely. Very clean and well decorated. We will be back next time we’re passing through.
Omlettes were HUGE and yummy. Creamcheese apple pie dang near rivals cheesecake factory. Good sweet tea. There was room for improvement in a couple of areas but nothing major. Different but good!
I had the porterhouse steak it was okay needed more seasoning green beans was great and cream potatoes and gravy was great to , the A1 was runnier and color was weak almost if they mixed it with something else like water, all the help was friendly yes I would go there again.
Delicious BBQ and friendly staff! We both had the pulled pork and sweet potato casserole side which hit the spot. Hush puppies were hot & fresh out the fryer! They have plenty of booths inside and outside to dine.Open Thursday - Sunday
This place has been around for a long time, different owners, and I believe the best are here now. The dining room is smaller, but very clean, with a classic southern motif. The menu is not huge, which is good, makes deciding easier. The food was good, we both had the prime rib, it was cooked exactly how we ordered it.Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I'll be coming back.
I would give 4.5 stars but not an option. Okay, food was good and portions very nice. Here is how they could improve....have three sauces on the tables for you to use. They should have a mild, hot and vinegar based BBQ sauce on each table. The wait staff was most excellent and very attentive! Collards were very tender and tasty. Potato salad is mustard based which I like best. Very much a place that should be in business for some time.
Mother's Day I decided to go, checked their fb page for hours & any notices. I was ok on hours and no notices or announcements. Drove over 20 minutes there to find them closed. I messaged them to find out what was up since there was nothing on their page about closing early. The response was "the staff wanted to go home". Poor management there. This past Saturday I gave them another try. Parking, there are no legal handicap spaces with a sign and no spaces at all with a hashed area for lifts. They just have 1 space with the handicap symbol painted on the asphalt. You seat yourself so we sat in a corner booth. I had picked up a flyer for this diner with the menu printed on it so I was ready for prime rib at $19.00. When we got there the menu prices were alot different than the flyer, the prime rib is $24.00! I got the ribeye special. There was nothing special about it. The meat was super thin and a bit tougher than what I am accustomed to. I will say though it was cooked to a perfect medium rare. However it was so thin that the char marks gave it a burnt taste, not good. The 2 sides I chose were Macaroni and Cheese and green beans. The green beans tasted like plain canned green beans. The Mac & cheese looked & tasted like Kraft Deluxe boxed Macaroni and Cheese. Also my plate arrived with two hush puppies, rolls or sourdough bread I could understand but hush puppies???? Hush puppies made no sense with this dish. The person I was with had the same comments about his food, alot of prepackaged foods we could buy in our local grocery store for a lot less money and little effort to cook. One day I may lose what sense I have and have some mad money to spend $24.00 on prime rib but I don't see it in the near future.Needless to say Route 64 Diner was a disappointment and not worth the drive to.
