Some of the food is very good (albeit very overpriced) and some of the employees are very nice and definitely worth seeing again. But besides the overpriced food, the reason for the pathetically low review is due to my brief experience as an employee of this establishment. If you wish to work at their White Plains franchise as I did, know that your manager is incredibly unprofessional and impolite. She will expect you to know and do everything perfectly by only the first or second day. And you’re never given the chance to learn from any normal beginner mistakes, let alone be given the chance to improve. And this is not even mentioning your boss, the owner of Cravin Jamaican who was absolutely deplorable to work with. Before I quit (and the reason I quit) he told me that I was never included in the work schedule because I am a burden on the workforce and a headache to have at the job. Even though I was only called in to work for a total of five days in over a month. So although their jerk chicken and plantains are good and I am happy that I had some very kind and supportive coworkers, know that this is how things are done behind the admittedly very nice facade of Cravin’ Jamaican. Make of this information what you will.
I’m an Army soldier stationed in white plains on a mission and haven’t stopped eating at Craving Jamaican since I found this place! EVERYTHING is so good here! I tell all the other soldiers about it and when they come they LOVE it. If you are looking for GOOD authentic Jamaican food this is the place!! I always walk out with more than one meal so I don’t have to make double trips I’m here 3 times a week
I visited Cravin again. As this was not my first visit I decided to try something different. This time I had the oxtail. It was deliciously juicy and meaty. The plantain was enough to make a meal all by itself. The servers upfront was courteous and saw to my needs. I left feeling filled and contented. This is an experience everyone should have. I hope to see the owner next time so I can let him know the wonderful experience he and his staff are providing. Keep up the great work.
Curry goat was terrific! Rice and beans also. Jerk chicken on deck for next visit, which I hope is soon.
Food was amazing, customer service was great. As I was eating my jerk chicken I couldn’t believe how good it was. Very affordable too! I will be coming back ASAP!
Came here for dinner on a Saturday. Food was great and service was amazing. I had the Jerk Salmon with Plantains and Rice & Peas with oxtail gravy on side. Would definitely be visiting again soon and highly recommended for anyone who wants some authentic Jamaican food.
There are a lot of Caribbean restaurants that claim to be authentic BUT this place actually is. I had the oxtail, cabbage and Rasta pasta. It was AMAZING and very FRESH! The place is clean, stylish, comfortable yet, felt like home. YouCan't beat the price, taste or size. Don't cheat yourself and stop by and them me if I'm lying.
I'd show you a photo of my meal, but it would just be an image of a squeaky-clean plate because I was ravenous when I stumbled into Cravin' on a bitterly cold Friday night. One of my clients had just gone to Jamaica and of course I was bitterly jealous (jk), but Jamaica was clearly on my mind. The music in the restaurant definitely put me in the right mood and mindset.I am so glad I tried this joint. I asked one of the workers (the owner?), a kind and happy woman, for her recommendations. What we ended up ordering:Oxtail stew and curry chicken. Sides: plantain, cabbage, and rice. Everything was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. The sides were tasty. I washed all the goodness down with some beer.I'm still salivating just thinking about it.The place was rather empty (probably due to the bitter cold) but there were a lot of takeout / delivery orders, so it seems the place is popular enough.I'll be back!
Got a small jerk chicken & rice for $18. Way too expensive for some not so good Jamaican food. Definitely won't be eating there again
The food is OK! A hint of Caribbean cuisine. When I eat Caribbean food I want that authentic flavor that Cravin Jamacian doesn’t have.
