Terrible food and terrible service horribly overpriced will not be back. Yuck.

I went in here with my grandma and mom looking for a cute little place to have brunch because we were tired of the same places in Syracuse. I walked in and was excited because I saw BLM and LGBTQ+ stickers on the door so I thought it would be an inclusive place. We’re hispanics so there are a lot of places where we feel uncomfortable. When I walked in I felt immediately watched. The white cashier that was taking our order was giving us weird looks and when ever we asked questions about their menu/drinks she looked visibly annoyed like we were bothering her. She kept rolling her eyes and just very tense. We watched her whole demeanor change with all the other white customers and we knew what kind of situation it was. Not only is the cafe in a predominately black area thats being gentrified but you’d think that because they promote themselves as a liberal coffee shop the workers would be a little less discriminatory. 1/10
They had no non-dairy milk at all, which in 2022 seems weird and maybe not the best business move.They also had some very cringy hand written signage all over outside their windows that wasn’t really working.
Café Kubal is an amazing establishment! This location has a very hip and modern style to it. The open floor plan and tall windows allows a lot of natural light in. A window seat while you enjoy food or drink is not hard to get which is what I prefer. There are larger tables for group seating and more comfortable couches if you like that comfort level too. Today I had the pleasure of eating The Upstate Grinder which consists of : turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, apples, & maple mayo on ciabatta bread, and oh my was it AWESOME! The cheese was melted perfectly and all the flavors combined so well. I topped it off with a 4oz Eastwood that's simply equal parts espresso and steamed milk, but with unsweetened cocoa. Wow wow was that great too! Last but not least the service. The fella and two women that work this location are spot on with your order whether they are working with just a couple orders or a long line. They held great conversation while perfecting their crafts. Love this spot and I'll always revisit.
It was our first time visiting.Coffee was good and food was also really good.If you order coffee+sandwiches+soup, you might feel a little pricey, but it's worth to try.
Visiting from out of town on a Sunday morning. Great coffee and food if you can get it. Currently there is at least a 40 min wait and a long backup of orders because there is only one poor young lady working both food and drinks. I really hope this isn’t the norm because it’s just cruel to not schedule any backup for her. Some people are leaving but thankfully most people understand.To this cafe’s owner/s: this is terribly irresponsible of you to allow this to happen. She’s doing a great job as best as she can but this is your mistake.To the young lady in the blue shirt, you are doing a great job and your hard work is much appreciated ???

I just want to mention that I went into the S. Salina restaurant on Monday 1/31 and asked if that was a brownie and the lady said yea, so I said, ok I’ll take one. Later on when I was home and went to eat it, well when I bit into it, it wasn’t what I thought was a brownie. It was like a brownie looking shell and some stuff came oozing out of it like one of those cakes with the chocolate running out of it. I stopped back in the store the name day and spoke with the lady about it and she said, that’s because it was a gluten free vegan brownie and I was like, don’t you think you should have informed the customer of that in case they had allergies to something or in case they didn’t want that and I think that was wrong of you to do that. She was like, well, what do you want me to do about it and I was in shock with that response. Like wow! How unprofessional of her. I told her that she is suppose to inform customers of things like that. I’ve been in food service for 50 years and I’m a manager and she was very unprofessional in handling that. One other thing, I all so spoke to someone about the plastic wear out and that it should be upside down and not sticking up like that because a customer should be grabbing the part that you’re going to eat from, the should be grabbing the handle. Anything that is going to be used and/or served out of should be upside down.
Kubal has the best coffee around, love the Fireside roast and the dirty chai. No matter what drinks I try, it never disappoints. I highly recommend you try their pour overs.
