Best restaurant in New York for South Indian/Sri Lankan food. They make you feel at home. The owner Viji is a very sweet person. She treated us like house guests and asked for preferences before preparing our meal. I would go back here any day for the delicious meal and relaxing atmosphere. Everything that we tried tasted great and were reasonably priced. Fish Curry and Kothu Parotta was amazing. I have been to 1000s of restaurants across the world but nobody has every treated us so affectionately like the people at New Asha restaurant. 5 star ✨ any day!

Great food, I prefer the mild option, very affordable, owners are super friendly and helpful in choosing the right dishes. Went to this restaurant after completing the 5 borough bike tour and met with other riders too, had a great time talking and stuffing ourselves with delicious Sri Labkan food, cheered on by the super friendly staff!

INCREDIBLE FOOD! But most importantly Vijee was so sweet. Taught us about what we were eating and made us try all the desserts. I highly recommend the Jackfruit dishes (there were two curries when we were there), the tapioca pudding, and the pickled vegetables. Everything was fantastic and cheap!

Amazing food. Very friendly and compassionate people. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, was treated like a guest at their home. Very caring.Fish curry is a must try. Cuisine very similar to South Indian food. Would definitely visit again.

Such a wonderful place to eat! My partner was looking for authentic Sri Lankan food and New Asha surpassed our expectations. The staff was so lovely and sweet, she recommended dishes and explained each in great detail for us with recommendations and pairing. The atmosphere is so warm, calm, and inviting as well. They truly connect with you through and far past the food. Such generous and beautiful hearts, that’s probably why the food is so good! Please support New Asha they put so much thought, time, and care into what they do, and it shows.

Came out to Staten Island to try to Sri Lankan food. We saw good reviews so we decided to stop by here. We ordered mutton kottu and chicken curry. It was simply incredible. Just as good as the best food I had when I went to Sri Lanka back in 2018.However, what took our experience to the next level was the wonderful service we received from the woman working at the front. She was extremely sweet. We had a nice conversation and she provided great recommendations for us. On top of that, she threw in some extra food for us when packing up our take out box!The atmosphere is casual but don’t let that deceive you. The food and service is very high quality and we will definitely be coming back next time we are in the neighborhood!

Made a trip to this place while visiting NYC just for the Sri Lankan food. Was a little disappointed when the reviews didn’t measure up to the experience. Most of the dishes on the menu were unavailable for lunch. Finally ordered chicken kottu, vegetable buns and Chinese rolls. The taste was adequate at best for the price paid. The staff is friendly towards regulars. Didn’t feel welcomed as a guest. There was a strange smell that ruined the vibe of the place. Overall, this restaurant is ok, but wouldn’t recommend if you are a homesick Sri Lankan looking for the taste of home.

I really enjoy eating here!! the owner is so sweet & caring. You can tell she really wants you to have a good experience. I have never eaten Sri Lankan food before this and I’ve been blown away. The potato and leeks with lentil and roti are soo addictive. There’s no way I could eat the whole thing in one sitting so the portions are worth the price. I sat inside a few times and the owner kept coming to my table giving me samples of new food for me to try. It's like being at home!

Must visit restaurant when I am in the NJ / NY area. It’s like having a home cooked Sri Lankan meal. They treat you like a house guest and make sure you have a pleasant and enjoyable meal.

Delicious food in a super cozy family environment. Definitely recommend the kottu roti, vegetable roti roll (spicy! Great flavor combo), and both desserts :) the mango lassi is also homemade and tasty
