I stayed here for an extended stay, and thought the staff was great. If they were not so great the score woukd be less. The guests are sometimes a little rough (the police showed up twice while I was there) but they handle them with grace and professionalism. Like many hotels now they are understaffed and housekeeping service options are low, which is being blamed on Covid. The worse part was trying to work with Marriott corporate. They are extremely understaffed and somehow blame Covid. They won't even answer phones, and their service reps no longer have authority to much are quick to apoligize out of habit. For example I checked in and then downloaded the app and they said they won't allow the app to be used, such as to unlock doors with the phone, unless the app is open before the reservation. This happened with my earlier stay at a Hilton property and they fixed it and synced the stay within 2 minutes. With Marriott it was 2 weeks before they could even figure out what was wrong. Marriott corporate/member services is a shell of its former self.
We enjoyed our stay at the Fairfield Inn. The location is convenient off of 440 and Victory Blvd. Our room was clean and comfortable, and common areas were clean and well appointed. There was plenty of free parking, and we appreciated the complimentary breakfast and coffee. Thank you to James for the warm and friendly welcome.
The maid never put washclothes in.. that was no problem, got some at front desk.. took the thin bedspread off.. were a few hairs on it and some stains.. don't tell me it was changed.. Also room never made up the second day.. I asked desk why in morning he said it was "Upon request".. however there was NOTHING to indicate that fact.. The so called buffet was horrible.. had premade "egg tacos" and a muffin in a paper bag.. tasted like cardboard.. Yeah, I know just coming off "covid" but really? thats the best you can do??
Pros...The rooms are clean, the price is reasonable, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Cons... as soon as you leave the front desk it’s like entering the twilight zone. Everything stinks of cigarette smoke. It was seeping into our room. Kids crying, adults yelling at said kids, doors slamming in the hallway. The staff was very nice and gave us another room without any grief however moving from the second to the fifth floor really yielded no better result. Still stinks of cigarette smoke and still just as loud. There is absolutely no sound barrier between the hallway and the rooms. We were only here one night so we made it work, but I would likely not return.
Stayed one night for a baseball tournament. Check in process was easy. Room was clean, nice TV, great temperature control and the mini frig is a nice size and works well. Linens and bathroom were clean. Paul Mitchell items are provided, to-go tissues and a nice facial cleanser/makeup remover wipe. There is a nice breakfast area and small eatery. They were both closed due to COVID-19. The surrounding area is a little run down with a lot of road construction but it did not effect our travel during the weekend. We were woken by the fire alarm and evacuated at 11:55pm for about a half hour due to a microwave incident in the employee break room. A few other families took the drive to Point Pleasant Beach and were pleased with their experience. It is a short 45min drive for a nice beach day. I would recommend this hotel.
We had reserved a block of rooms with the Staten Island Fairfield Inn & Suites for our wedding this summer at the nearby Grand Oaks Country Club. From initiating the booking process, Anne Colangelo was very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, due to the COVID 19 restrictions, we’ve had to postpone our original wedding plans until next year. Anne and her team responded to us within the same day, providing us with reassurance and support. She quickly adjusted our contract and put us at ease. As a bride, especially a bride in the middle of a Pandemic, I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to Anne for her professionalism and help. I absolutely recommend them to anyone needing lodging in Staten Island, especially when needing a block of rooms for a large event.
Room was decent. Price was reasonable. The location was industrialish but fine. The noise level overnight was excessive but it was only a night styring there so could have been an off night. Parking was plentiful.
When we drove in, we acknowledged we were only staying one night and the property would serve our short term purpose. Our opinion of the hotel quickly changed upon arrival inside the hotel when we were greeted by Joe the front desk clerk. He was warm, welcoming and very friendly. Because we are Marriott Elite members we received a nice goodie bag with snacks and water. We went up into our room to settle in and the room’s phone rang. It was Joe checking in with us to ensure the room was satisfactory. It was a simple gesture which spoke volumes to the hotel’s focus on customer service. The little restaurant offered a wonderful venue in which to relax after a three hour drive. Eric the bartender was friendly and make sure our every need was met. Their wine and beer selection was limited, but it was just fine. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and the staff was so friendly and helpful. The property was clean, welcoming and we would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Staten Island!
PHENOMENAL front-end staff! Head of Housekeeping is a doll! Good food from Bar 290 downstairs. Comfortable, well-appointed rooms. Definitely staying here again!
Beautiful ambience, all facilities are excellent & maintained. I like it.
