Went here for dinner last night. Ordered three entrees. One of which was eggplant parmigiana. We received it and the eggplant was charred and disgusting. However, the chef just piled cheese and sauce on it hoping it wouldn’t be noticed. Ok, I guess that happens. It takes 5 minutes just to get the waitress’s attention. Only got her to come over after flagging down a bus person. By this time the rest of the table was halfway through their meal. They took it off our check. No manager coming over to apologize, no “can we get you a free glass of wine.” Nothing (again, it’s not just that they burned the eggplant to the point it was disgusting and uneatable but they then attempted to serve as if it wouldn’t be noticed). We pay the check and the waitress says “we’re sorry you didn’t *enjoy* your meal” as if it was an opinion or preference someone wouldn’t enjoy disgusting and completely charred eggplant. Just unbelievable but not surprising as it was clear the waitress couldn’t care less about our table or what occurred. I worked in restaurants for 15 years. Working my way up from a bus boy to management and it’s unfathomable to me that this is how a place would treat their customers. From the chef who sent out a clearly uneatable meal, a waitress would couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it, and management that clearly was ok letting all of this happen. It’s unfortunate that we would be required to make a scene or ask for a manager just to get an acknowledgement that they messed up. Go somewhere where they care.
The whole staff is friendly and accommodating. Dan the bartender is super nice even though he is always busy!
Everything was delicious from appetizer to dessert. My whole family enjoyed everything we ordered. Try the Greek Scampi loved it. Kate our server was wonderful and sweet. Will be back next time in area
We were so looking forward to our usual awesome dinners and were seriously shocked at the ridiculous increase in pricing, not reflected in online menu. Then we were disappointed in the portions (smaller) and quality. Waitress was wonderful, but we were so disappointed with massive price increase and food. My smaller NY strip was like $57! Been a patron for decades and never had this experience before.
Went for the first time this month and went back again because it's so good. The chicken parm is huge and comes with a salad. Next time I had their special, Chicken Joseph. Try the clams bianco(?) - clams on the shell with a lovely broth complete with garlic toast to dip in the broth. All my guests raved about their food. Make sure to make a reservation - you'll need one.
You really can not find a better NY strip in town. My last visit our sever Mark was so friendly, and the busser Anthony was such a delight. Thanks for a great dining experience, as always
Had a private birthday party in the room off the main dining area... Food was Great and the service by Christina and Emily was equally great! Ben helped me with the reservation details and I could not be more pleased... Planning a party for 20 - 50 people?? Look no further than Pennell's..
Food was a little above average, service was very good. This long popular restaurant is in need of a interior overhaul. Also the prices are a little on the high side. $30 dollars for a good sized chicken breast picata and side of pasta.
The food here is very good and the portions are huge. Had the meatballs for an appetizer and the were large and very good. The sauce that they were in was delicious it had me scooping it all up with the bread. The salad nothing special. The drinks also nothing special. The entrees were huge and both were delicious and huge. There was no dessert special so that was a bit disappointing. Our server seemed preoccupied with a larger party table and focused his attention there instead of all his other tables. I would have rated this establishment higher just on the entrees but the inattentive server, unimpressive drinks and no dessert special lead to an average rating for me.
Unbelievable matre d Spencer who went above and beyond too make our dinner fabulous. Will never forgot what great food and great waitress we had. One of the best places in Saratoga to eat!!!The steak I had was the best in the city. Phenomenal 5 star!!!
