Great food with a welcoming atmosphere.

Iv been going to the old toad for the last 7 years. I don't know what happen to the authentic British style pub. The food on saint Patrick's day was horrible. Waited for a hour for corned beef and cabbage. The portion was smaller then a corn beef sandwich. The cabbage was terrible, mash potatoes lol. Really!!. They did to bring back the culinary program they had and bring back real cooks and not creakheads and hire from there back ally??

The strongest aspect was the staff. Excellent and attentive server who did not hover. We had nine including children and that can be a challenge. But server did very well. Having said that, I did not find the menu all that impressive. Had phone back home charging, so had to peek at another's phone to get the menu. Wound up with an overpriced burger with smashed potatoes. Overall impression in group was mixed, but I was not favorably impressed. This gets a four because of staff. Otherwise, it was a three.

Super cozy pub. Good for hanging out, not loud. Went on a Saturday night

It’s a good idea but have been there a couple of times over the years and it is terrible compared to what they claim to be authentic British food. I had such high hopes but have been left disappointed every time. Even the mushy peas where just processed peas that they had squashed.

The old toad is Rochester's quintessential British pub. Authentic and delicious British food, a great selection of whiskey and scotch. I've had the grilled cheese and it was delicious, same with the fish and chips. Definitely how's the look and feel of a real British pub. If you're in Rochester you cannot miss going to this place!

Amazing Rochester staple. They have an exchange program for hospitality works from England which is wonderful. The food is authentic and they have a good draught rotation including cask ale from time to time.

The gentleman running the restaurant tonight was nothing short of if a rude jerk. It may have had something to do with him drinking on the job since I watched him fill a cup with at least 3 shots of liquor before he headed back to the kitchen. I think he might have been the owner. Not sure, but won’t be going back there again.

excellent service and excellent food. The bartender is also a wealth of knowledge when it comes to good scotch!

A satisfying and scrumptious meal. Very filling British cuisine with some German Oktiberfest mixed in. Burger was delectable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Nice place for a meal out or a pint at the pub.
