We had to make a last minute change in dining for a year end celebration and the Gate House was there to accommodate and serve us with ease and perfection. Being a large party they didn’t skip a beat. I love the food and friendly atmosphere. Thank you Gate House! Rochester Jewels Inc.
Have been wanting to try the Gate House and finally made it to celebrate my son's graduation. Warm, ecelctic, inviting atmosphere sets the tone for a great experience. Fabulous food and excellent service. Difficult to select from the menu with so many tempting entrees. ( Saturday brunch menu as well as full menu ) Unanimous - will be back soon to explore the creative offerings. HIGHLY recommend!!!
Our dinner reservations fell through at the restaurant of choice so we tried the Gate House. Attentive service. Extensive menu with everything from salads, sandwiches and full meals. I had a caesar salad; my friend had vegetarian lasagna. Both were good. Decent wine by the glass list; generous pour for price. My only disappointment was with dessert. A local bakery is known for its carrot cake. It is THE best in the area. Gate House had it on the menu so I had to have it. However they served this perfectly wonderful carrot cake in a bowl with caramel sauce. Scacreligious!
1st time patron of this fabulous restaurant but I'll be coming back in the future for sure! Love the Rochester themed menu items and friendly service. Delicious food, large portions and reasonable prices. A definite place to try out if you haven't yet. Glad to have found this gem in Rochester.
Fantastic atmosphere, great service, awesome food!Located on a nice pedestrian only area lined with beautiful trees. The pizza made in the wood burning oven was very tasty and the dough is crunchy on the outside while soft on the inside. The wings (Italian style) were really good. The garlic/parmesan coating tasted fantastic. Didn’t even need a sauce to go with them. The only weird part is that they’re priced MP (market price). I’ve seen that for seafood, but never for chicken wings.Next time I will definitely try their famous burgers.
I have celiac and got the Monroe Ave pizza, asked them to swap reg crust for cauliflower. AMAZING, and I don't use that word lightly. It's the closest to tradional pizza I've had since my diagnosis. I can't stress enough how delicious it was. The house salad was fresh and ❤️ the dressing.
We had a group of 6 5:30 reservation. Food was good waiter was good and then......we were talking over coffee and an extremely rude woman came over and started removing plates napkins and said we have others waiting and not in a pleasant tone! We were there 2 hours exactly on a Thursday. Never again.
We were in town visiting family over Easter and decided to stay around for a few days to visit a couple of museums (Eastman and Play). Our daughter suggested this location (lunch) for their pizzas from the wood-fired oven. Great choice. Service was proficient, prices fair and they had a full bar. In addition, they did a fabulous job renovating this old factory location. We loved it. Enjoy.
Online menu said had fish and chips in restaurant they said do not so settled with the gate plate. The fries were overcooked and hard even the burger and gritty sauce did little to soften the fries. Only thing good about my meal was the onion rings (2 on top of the burger and gritty sauce mix). My younger kids enjoyed their pizza my oldest kids and wife also did not like theirs at all. I'm from syracuse NY and was in Rochester for the Strong Museum so decided to check out where the garbage plate pizza originated buy was sadly disappointed and prefer the knockoffs to the real deal.
The best plate in Rochester I've ever had! ?And a plus is my son loved his burger (and he is fussy). They were also very kind about a long wait for the lunch (I was picking it up and had ordered online). We'll be back for sure!
