I've been going to Sumo for lunch and dinners for a few years now. This is this is my favorite sushi place! They have unmatched hospitality. The sushi isn't the greatest in the world but it is the most consistent I've had and way above the normal standard. Every roll I've tried is great and the specialty rolls are even better.Highly recommend Sumo for any occasion. The staff is very polite and I've never had an issue with phone orders or in-person dining over the past 5 years I've visited. The food comes out in a timely fashion and the price is just right. Amazing place for sushi and the occasion hibachi dish!
I enjoyed it very much, I come here all the time. I will be back again soon. thanks
Way off today. I have eaten here numerous times. Usually very good. Today I ordered through uber eats, and it was HORRIBLE. Something was WAY off with each of the three rolls I ordered. The tempura roll tasted rancid, like very old cooking oil was being used. The other two non fried rolls tasted off, in some way I could not detect the cause. It pains me to leave a bad review as I have enjoyed Sumo in the past, maybe just not get it delivered??
TL:DR - I feel like this pleasant little restaurant is on hard time from the pandemic. While the food is not unpleasant, you will not get a very good bang-for-your-buck here. Read down the reviews from recently… they display a sad story of decreasing quantities and increasing bills.Taste - All 3 of my rolls were pleasant tasting, although extremely light on proteins.Quantity - You know those little thumb sized rolls you get from the grocery store, or the gas station? Yea, sadly, their rolls are this size. While they charge you for “full size restaurant rolls”, you get the wee little kids-table rolls. Bear in mind, I don’t expect monstrous rolls, overflowing with ingredients… they should be bigger than my thumbs.Cost - For a 30+ dollar meal, I expected FAR more than I received. Also, they list 2 rolls side by side on the menu, under the same price heading (all rolls are individually priced, these were placed together on the menu). They wanted to charge me a fee for getting the brother/sister roll from the same line, with one different ingredient. Look, I get it, you want to discourage “exchanges” and “substitutions”, but these are identically priced and on the same line as the same roll!Service - The service was spot on. She was polite, prompt and swung by after about 10 minutes to check on the meal.3 rolls, a miso soup, a hot tea and an order of hot sake should have left me full and waddling out of the restaurant. Sadly, it left me still hungry and unbelieving of the costs.I came in tonight craving a Japanese hot-plate, maybe some teriyaki or noodle plate. Seeing the prices for chicken and beef in the $20-$30 dollar range raised some red flags for me. Judging from what I received, there is NO WAY their rice-plates are in the high 20s range of quality.I hope you guys come upon better times… but inflating prices and making the quantities tiny… this is not the way.
Decided to try SUMO on a whim and was genuinely impressed. Food was prepared exactly as ordered and was delicious. Staff was courteous and accommodating. I ordered take out so I ca not comment on service but I look forward to ordering again. I would recommend.
After several recent good reviews I ordered take out from here. I ordered a range of things from appetizers to sushi to dinner . I was extremely disappointed. There wasn’t a thing I would get a second time. What a waste of $70. Sorry for the bad review but I felt obligated
Could not believe how delicious this place was! A real diamond in the rough. I had their filet mignon hibachi and it was incredible. So tender, cooked to perfection. Also ordered sushi and veggie tempura, so amazing! Lovely atmosphere as well. Full bar. Huge sushi menu.
Ordered loverboat for 2. Only comes with 1 salad and 1 soup. Seems strange if meal is for 2.Sushi and Sashimi were not fresh. Tasted fishy and not fresh. Rice was yellow in tint. This place has a long way to go to standards of the better Sushi restaurants in town.Hopefully just a holiday week glitch for this restaurant.Heard great things about the Hibachi.
Wasn't 100% satisfied with my last visitMy sushi roll came out when I was done with my main dish.. And my soda glass was empty almost the entire time I was eating
Good food, nice service and reason prices
