Great food and cocktails. The Frenchmen is summery and delicious- very lavender forward so may not appeal to all. The gem lettuce salad is a favorite- herb dressing w salt flakes. Steak frites always perfect.
Great location and so nice to sit and dine outside. We’d heard great things about Roux and joined another couple who are regulars and love the place. Two of us had the fish that that day and it was delicious, and our friend who ordered the duck ate every morsel. The mussels, while okay, were nothing special and my drink, Hey beski, was served in a fairly small glass loaded with ice cubes, with very little drink for $12. All-in-all, while our friends really like Roux, we found the setting good, the food okay, and the bill quite high.
Roux has an eclectic menu with mostly French inspired dishes. It was very busy on a Thursday evening. It was difficult to find parking and I would allow at least 20 minutes just to park. Do not park in the CVS lot across the street because you will be towed. City of Rochester has no parking signs that start at 7 PM on weekdays.
First time visiting Roux. We started outside for a cocktail and went inside for dinner. Dinner, drinks and desserts were great.
Great service, cool space, lovely atmosphere the food was superb and the cocktail menu was fresh and inventive! You gotta come see this hidden gem in Rochester!!
We are from Chicago and were visiting family in Rochester. Coming from a foodie town, we had assumed we’d have some nice dinners out that were more focused on the conversation than the food. Well, Roux proved us wrong! The atmosphere was excellent, the service a bit slow...which is decidedly French! Their house wines were good. The star of the show, however, was the food. Absolutely delicious. Each and every course was tasty and left us wanting more. We enjoyed the seasonal asparagus which was served with a cool cream sauce, escargot which came piping hot and spectacular, mussels, a cheese plate, and a lamb dish. An emphatic 5 stars, excellent experience!
Great dinner with a friend. Amazing bourbon sour. The char was cooked to perfection and the chocolate flour less cake was heavenly.
Went this past Sunday for a family dinner with out of town relatives, and a surprise proposal! The atmosphere was lovely, we well overdressed(for the proposal, gotta be fancy!) But there were other customers in more casual wear. The staff was wonderful, all around, Jose was our server and he was spectacular! The kitchen staff was as well, based on how fantastic all of the food was. Not a single complaint from our table, with varying dishes ordered. Drinks were made well, my wife ordered a drink not on the normal drink menu, and the bartender knew of it and served a great one(so I am told!). I cannot talk enough about the food though, really. It was incredible, at the table I couldn't stop saying how great it all was, and my belt could tell!We parked down the road a bit, there is a plaza lot that is within a minutes walk. Which I prefer to street parking for safety reasons(traffic and all that). However there is street parking if you can snag a spot.Overall a wonderful time, highly recommended, and we will return!
A few hits but mostly misses. We went here hoping for a romantic dinner after reading glowing reviews. The service was good and the winter salad was delicious. But the charcuterie plate was literally just a few pepperoni and assorted pickles with Dijon. I expected a few different meats for the price- and pepperoni tastes gross with pickles and Dijon! I ordered the steak frites and the first bite was delicious- perfectly seared on the outside and tender. But each bite got progressively worse as the steak turned gristly and ended up being completely cold and raw in the middle. I took it home to feed to my dogs. It ended up being a very unmemorable meal at a not-very-romantic spot. We won't be back.
Delicious french food in a cute little dining room. The cheese plate was incredible, and the alcohol selection was above and beyond. Highly recommend! The parking was a little tricky but the food was well worth the walk.
