Cool little spot in Rochester.It's has more traditional bar style food, burgers, sandwiches, wings, pizza and the lot. You pick your side for most meals. Nice portions.They also have a bunch of different salads also.Very large selection of beers here.
The last few times I have visited the Gates MacGregors the kitchen has been slow to push out dinners. Waitresses seemed to be flying while front end managers mosey back and forth from the kitchen to the front desk. With prices increasing the quality of food is good but not AMAZING. I was completely surprised when I noticed they charged a fee for using credit cards. I did not notice written warnings of this new policy and find this a distasteful practice when operational costs are already built into the over priced menu items.
Attentive waitress, good food. We went early in the day, so the atmosphere was quiet. Looks like they have scaled-down their menu, but still offering a wide selection.
06/01/2022Tried to get a beverage before going to a movie. Arrived at 945pm. Sat there for 15 minutes at the bar while the male and female bartenders were chatting it up the entire time ignoring all the patrons.We never got greated. We never got served. And eventually we just left without spending a dime.
Waited for waiter after being seated to take our drink order...45 minutes.Two people came in after us and were given food when our drink our finally came and one of those tables shared the same waiter as us. We left a 15% tip because my husband wouldn't let me cause a scene. On the way out I mentioned our unhappiness to the hostess and all she said was Did you ask to talk to a manager? We will never go back.
My family and I come here often. Lately it hasn’t been great. But it’s a hit a miss on fridays , decided to give it another try . Last order (take out ) meal was incorrect . I spoke to someone who wrote my information down and order and “Philly” would call me the next day , never did. Few weeks later I wanted a burger again and we decided to go back for take out . Again order was wrong and asked for burgers to be well done . Guinness burger had no bacon on it with tomatoes . Asked for no tomatoes add bacon well done.( pink) my burger was the deluxe. Didn’t have any mayo . Asked for it to be Well done (pink). Only time the food / order was correct is on a Thursday at 11 am when they open .
Great service and food. Beer menu phenomenal. One of our go to places for lunch. Nice ambiance. Even packed is is not too loud.
We walked in party of 6 it was very busy three wait staff and two in the kitchen from what we were told. They made room for us as soon as possible. The wait staff worked like a bunch of family members doing their best with a loaded short staffed restaurant. We had a good time great food and we hope they managers reward all of them for and amazing job! No excuses just keeping customers aware of the situation and we could not have been happier! Job well done by everyone! Get these people awarded before you loose them!!!!
Wow. Prices have really gone up. I move away from Rochester about 9 years ago. I get wing prices are expensive everywhere. And McGregor's are jumbo wings. But, $12 for 6? Wow.Plate sauce is fantastic. Best I've had in a long while. And the burgers were great. But not worth $16.
A great place to frequent! Not too loud and not a crazy roudy crowd. Expansive selection of drafts and a nice atmosphere!
