Older Hotel, well maintained, in a great location. The restaurant, Tournedos, is amazing, and the lounge very welcoming. Housekeeping staff very personable and attentive. Major issue: they charge $50 per half hour for late check out after 11:00. It would have cost $100 to stay an hour to wait for my Uber to the airport. And the attitude about it was worse. After a 4 night stay and lots of $$$ spent in the lounge, you assume they could accommodate a simple request. Left a really bad taste in my mouth after an otherwise good stay. Not sure if I would return or not.

Firstly checking in was bizarre- we had to have a hold put on our cards for $250 on top of the room we booked. This was done on a card we had used to book with but was declined for the $511.76 so we were charged a partial payment of $256.76. (Newlyweds and did not account for additional available funds) I then used another credit card and was told the initial payment did not go through. This was incorrect and after being charged $461.46 on a different credit card we spoke to the front desk in the morning. The original $256.76 was released but another charge appeared on the second card for $211.46 yesterday and I have still not been refunded from the original $461.46 even though we have called to speak to the managers. We booked this hotel as a nontraditional route to stay close by for a concert. In total we had 1,179.68 of authorizations placed on our credit cards for a SINGLE nights stay!We also heard the steakhouse was excellent and the in house bar was attractive to us when we agreed to book this room. However none of those amenities were available as we stayed on a Sunday night. The hotel room was very small, clean but did not offer any accommodations for meal preparations as descripted online. We did not feel invited by staff during our stay, the hotel was strange, quiet and uninviting. We will not be back.

Located on a noisy street in a not-great part of town, but very convenient to Eastman and U Rochester Med School. However, the place has gotten run down, and not in a charming way. My small room cost nearly $250 a night but had water damaged ceilings, minimal shower pressure, a single, dirty window, and the bed was uncomfortably hard. One nice feature: lovely toiletries with a citrusy fragrance. And one really cheesy one: at those prices, charging for bottled water in the room, something every local chain provides for free.

Atmosphere is chill and cool. The staff is also really friendly. We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes drive away from where we were visiting.

Tournedos is outstanding.... nothing even remotely comparable. Jeff and Jackie in the bar the absolute best. Eat in the bar at a a booth. The best place to sit. Room 301 is the best. BONE IN RIBEYE!!!!!!!!

It's my first time eating at the restaurant inn. It was for a business dinner in the wine cellar downstairs. The server was courteous and attentive and the food was good.

Stayed in 4th floor room.. was ok. Clean, nice touches. Liked having a keurig. Would've been nice to have a mini-fridge. Bed was comfy. Furnishings a bit dated. The shower ROCKED. Best part of the room. Our room faced the street, so there was some street noise, but the ambiance is one cool part of being in a city. Hotel is almost a century old, so we really enjoyed the charm of the hard wood floors and architecture. Yeah, the air handler was a bit noisy, but it was away from the bed near the door. I've had worse in nicer Hiltons. Staff was all very friendly. Doors unlock with a key (another charming throwback?), and outside doors are locked at 11 pm, but front desk woman was very nice when letting us in. No complaints from us at all. Had a black Manhattan drink in the lounge that was amazing. The Spot is a nice little coffee shop on East Ave across from the news station - great coffee and bagels.

For $300/night I would give the hotel 2 stars. Beautiful historic lobby and the location is good. The fireplace in the room was nice. The room ‘suite’ had a lot of wasted space, there was only one bathrobe, the mattress was not what I expected for a ‘luxury’ hotel (hard) and bed squeaked and headboard slammed against the wall whenever you moved in the bed. The neighbors probably thought there were extracurriculars going on all night. The TV was very small for the space and tucked in an armoire. When you booked the hotel online, you had to call the hotel and tell them whether you want to fireplace or a dinette in your room. It’s one, or the other, but it’s not an option online??? Finally, we were unable to eat at the hotel because because I did not make a reservation 4 days in advance. Upon checking out, not even a ‘how was your stay’ or ‘thank you for styling with us.’ For $300/night we’ll stay elsewhere.

A boutique hotel? No breakfast, & even after 2 tries the male receptionist (hardly a service-oriented receptionist) only supplied tepid water for making tea. Disparity in rooms; ours had a microwave & fridge but our friends' didn't & yet we were all charged the same price. NOT eco-friendly with plastic bottles & Keurig coffee maker. The price of a stay far exceeds the service & amenities of free parking & wifi, which was an unsecured service at that. Noisy, antiquated heating system kept us awake as it turned on & off throughout the night. No return visit for us.

Whatever this hotel used to be, it certainly isn't anymore. It seems they used to have breakfast. They no longer do. You can walk around the block to a coffee shop which I attempted to do. They had not shoveled the steps nor plowed the driveway. I am here on business and only had dress shoes which sunk in the snow up to my ankles. One could not get to the crosswalk, so I was almost hit by a car getting to the restaurant. The in house restaurant Tournedos is one of the most expensive I have ever seen. I have not seen prices like this in NYC. I went to the front desk to ask where the ice machines were. I was told there were none on any floors except in the bar, which would open at 5:00 p.m. (It closed at 9:00 p.m.). I was in room 310 - old world charm - cracked sink in the bathroom, old furniture. The only positive thing is a very comfortable bed. I will never stay here again. There are much more customer friendly places around. I was put here by the company that brought me here. I will inform them today that they should never put people at this place again.
