I would not recommend Bitter Honey to anyone who is handicapped. I have ALS and use a walker. The hostess watched me struggle with the stairs, never mentioning the lift I found on accident trying to find the bathrooms. The women's bathroom would be totally inaccessible to anyone in a wheelchair; there a post in the way. The food was okay at best. The loaded fries and the fish taco were good. The carne asada taco was okay;the horseradish barely discernable. I had hope for the al pastor but the meat was bland and there wasn't enough pineapple salsa. The rice and beans had zero seasononing. The drinks were great. I had the mezcal marg which was perfect. Bitter Honey has a young, hip vib and the outside seating was great, as was the service. There's better Mexican food in Rochester though and I won't be returning.
The decor of Bitter Honey is really nice to me, but others may feel it's way to dark. The layout of the restaurant is straight forward. You have a great looking bar to your left, and past that the spacious dining area. The restrooms are oddly outside of the restaurant down the hallway. Service was really good. I would return.Taco's- At $7 each it's best to get the platter ($24) if you like rice and beans. The 3 Tacos I had was Baja, Barbados, and Al Pastor. The tacos are on the small side, but they are pack with fillings. I would've loved them more if the shells were pan fried.Chips/ Guacamole- was really good. I could've ate this for dinner alone. Loved how fresh everything wasBirria taco- I felt it could've used more meat, and with more flavor. The dipping sauce could've been better, if it was the actual stewed sauce from the meat.Mai Boo- if you like pina colada's then you'll enjoy this drink. Very good and refreshing.
First time patrons - very pleased with drinks, service, and food.First time here for my wife and I on a lazy, warm afternoon (gift certificate from our kids). They had just opened and we were able to sit outdoors on the porch. Timing was just right as the place filled up very fast. Great server(s) who share the load when it gets busy. Made some nice drink recommendations which did not disappoint. Food was more Mexican modern rather than traditional so keep an open mind. A bit pricey but worth the experience in a unique urban location. We will be back to sample more drinks and snacks. Thank you for a fun experience.
Good food and margaritas. Cool vibe. Enchiladas and tacos were good. Excellent chips and pico!
AMAZING Nachos, Vegan cheese! Delicious pickled onions! So good! The white fish and zucchini tacos are also great!! Highly recommend.Drinks are pricey. Food A+
Nice bar, great atmosphere. Nacho chips were super fresh and warm ?
The tacos were delicious!!
The drinks were awesome. Carne asada and vegan taco were tasty but the rice and beans need work. Very relaxing atmosphere. Staff was friendly.
Recently had dinner at this establishment. Atmosphere was quirky, eclectic with small booths and counter tables. The menu was decent and the servers were friendly.Food was brought out promptly by an unmasked staff member. In fact, none of the staff was masked or followed protocols. The food was fresh with large portions. Chips and dip was $9 and a hamburger was $22. Our bill came to almost $100 and that is without alcoholic beverages. At the end of the meal, the server handed us a credit card reader, which was given to all the patrons to sign and add a tip. Being handed a reader that was given to each patron, asked to sign and add a tip while the server stands at your table was extremely uncomfortable. $100 for a salad, chips and dip, hamburger and 2 enchiladas is a bit pricey. The food was fresh and the staff is young/friendly. One of the guests in our party was medically compromised. This establishment needs to clean up its act.
A great restaurant in Rochester. Favorite seating area is right at the bar. Very good cocktails and meals, and the service is excellent. Very happy to see such a great restaurant doing so well.
