Most of the cooks at Bamboo House are Excellent! Highly recommended and we will be regular customers if this continues. We ordered the following dishes today that were cooked expertly:+ Crispy Chicken Chinese style - was not overdone, moist meat, crispy skin+ Family style Tofu - just the right spicy hot, vegetables were expertly stir-fried (crispy) and tofu was perfectly deep-fried, not overdone!+ Pan-fried dumplings - fresh, tasty and homemade, not frozen, the dipping sauce was flavorful and complemented the dumplings perfectly+ (our second visit): Chow Mein Cantonese Style - subgum, Incredible! See our picture+ (our third visit): the sauce was watery and tasteless.. turns out one cook is better than the other so quality of dishes depends on which one you get on any given visit! family style tofu horrible- watery and tasteless sauce, sauteed string beans tasteless and overcooked - 1 star+ (fourth visit): fantastic food today! Phat Thai lunch special, Watercress w/ Garlic and Preserved Tofu, Shrimp with Cashew lunch special - all expertly done!+ (fifth visit): Ordered jumbo shrimp with snow pea pods lunch special and this was excellent. Our other lunch special was jumbo shrimp with szechuan sauce was tasteless and sauce was watery again... they need to fix this big inconsistency between their different cooks.+ (6th visit): FANTASTIC! Ordered Subgum Cantonese Crispy (pan-fried) Noodles - this is definitely one of their signature dishes! Our server Fang was great, such awesome service.+ Oh my!! We ordered these two dishes: (1) Chen Dao Chicken, (2) Scallops with Hunan Sauce --> both were amazing! lightly battered with tempura-like batter, the sauce on both dishes perfectly complemented the other ingredients (see photos)+ Beef with broccoli, Shrimp with broccoli, Scallops with Hunan sauce (again) - fantastic!! So was the hot-n-sour soup!+ The Beef Chow Fun was expertly done - it had the 'wok hei' !! We ask for our Beef with snow peas dish to have Hunan Sauce instead and it was Fantastic!+ Egg Drop and Hot Sour soups were flavorful!+ Moo Gai Pan - delicious with tender slices of white meat chicken!Thank you Bamboo House!Keep up the great work Bamboo House!
When we saw Bamboo House was offering dine in service we had to try it. We were very glad that we did. The restaurant isn't fancy, but it's nice. The menu is fairly typical, but has a few unusual items we might try in the future. It was not busy on a Wednesday night, and we were seated promptly. The service was excellent. Tea and crisp noodles were served right away with the customary duck sauce and mustard. (I took note of that because another restaurant we visited now charges for tea and does not bring mustard unless you ask.) The fresh spring rolls were excellent as a starter. My wife ordered her go-to chicken lo mien for her main dish, and was very pleased with it. I ordered the pork with garlic sauce. The food looked good, and it was spicy hot and delicious. Fried rice was served with the meal. The portions were generous and the prices were more than reasonable. This restaurant is some distance from where we live, but I think it is well worth the trip.
There are plenty of Asian Fusion restaurants around and also similarly a ton of Chinese takeout places (who remembers Yangtze Kitchen in Lake Ronkonkoma, NY!), but as for solid old school Chinese restaurants they are getting harder and harder to find. While admittedly Bamboo House is nothing to look at, don’t let the appearance fool you, we are talking about solid Chinese food with wonderful service. Need an exception or customization, they’ll do it! Some of our favorite dishes include: Moo Shi, Chicken with Broccoli and Chicken Noodle Soup. Sit back and enjoy!
We did a family style birthday dinner. Duck was available last minute, they just put in that order 10 minutes before the others. All the food was great. The spicy dish we orderd was very manageable, half the guests took seconds.
I care a lot about Mu-Shu Vegetables, and Bamboo House does a great job with them, time after time. Same with the meat versions my husband orders. A number of dishes I've ordered here have been just great. Hot Pot with eggplant and tofu was disappointing .
We have been going here for many years and in the last 6 months the quality has declined. Lack of flavor, spice, and this week -raw beef (it moo’d and left an awful after taste). They have also forgotten parts of an order and we have picked up cold food (we live 3 minutes from the restaurant). Time to find a new Chinese restaurant
Tried vegetarian fried rice , noodles, Thai curry with rice.. , spring rolls was best .. it stole the show.. very friendly hostess .. who easily understand your choices and deliver accordingly.. a must try
My food was good, service excellent. Some people I was with weren't entirely happy with their food
Amazing food and attentive staff. Definitely will be going back!
Great chicken wings! Amazing taste! And so much food for your bucks! Can't believe I didn't check it out sooner! Would highly recommend!
