Positives - Beautiful dining room Beautifully presented dishes Substantial portions Lots of attentive service (changing cutlery between courses, etc) Extensive wine list Negatives - While beautifully presented, the taste or flavor of the food was underwhelming. With a party of four, each ordering appetizers and main dishes, we covered a fair bit of the menu. No one in our party loved our dishes. The dishes did not merit that type of pricing. ($300 for 4 persons) Another irritation, I called to ask specifically for a quiet table as a member of our party is hard of hearing and we were celebrating her 88th birthday. I was annoyed we were offered the table in the center of the room next to the kitchen. When I politely asked for any number of the other available tables, I was told they were reserved - of course, no one ever came to claim those tables. Not a great look for the hostess or the restaurant.

Business trip dinner with colleagues: Excellent service, great suggestions from the menu, including excellent wines to discover. Food was delicious, excellent preparation and presentation. Even local colleagues were impressed with this restaurant, and will add it to their places to try again with family. The Milk & Honey and Muhammara starters were delicious, Faroe Island Salmon was perfectly cooked, and Berbere cauliflower was divine. I cannot wait to return and try some of the other menu items.

My husband and I were in town for a retreat and couldn’t get a reservation anywhere. We walked in Avvino without a reservation, however the hostess was super accommodating and squeezed us in. Service was really efficient and the food was creative and delicious. The coconut shrimp appetizer we ordered made a lasting impression on us, flavors we never knew we needed. I would drive to Rochester just to eat here again.

Finally stopped by for the very first time on Valentine's Day. The hostess greeting us at the door was extremely friendly, our server was beyond nice, the service was quick and efficient even on a busy night, and to top it off the food was exceptional. Everything was cooked and spiced to perfection. The reddish dip is a muhammara. The big hunk of meat on the dark plate is a lamb shank. The pork chop is on the white plate. The dessert is a apple and fig galette topped with vanilla ice cream and drenched in saffron infused honey, dusted with curry powder. Yes, that sounds like an insane combination but it works so well that you have to try to believe it. You can't take my word for it. This food was incredible. Definitely pay them a visit.Oh, we also had four cocktails and they were slammin'. Perfectly balanced in every way possible.

Great service, drink selection, and dinner! Unique chef selections, a bit pricey.

I had dinner at avvino 12/30/21One of the best Rochester dining experiences I've had. Service was great. The food was excellent. The two of us shared several dishes, thoroughly enjoyed each one, and there was more menu items Id still like to try. I'll be going back again for sure.

Always an incredible experience here. This is the finest dining in Rochester, in my opinion. The menu is inventive and always has something I love. The duck was fabulous.

I love Avvino. Everything is excellent but my favorites are the pork chop, vegetable korma, and shrimp appetizer. The pork chop is big, juicy (which is rare for a pork chop) and cooked to perfection. Everything is unique in terms of the flavor combinations. It almost seems like fancy with an Indian flair. I love it here!!

Fantastic dinner with lovely people. Decor is warm and inviting and excellent service by the staff. The food was spectacular. I think we sampled almost every appetizer before our mains. Portions were huge but flavors were perfection!

The food was delicious and I love the variety/options on the menu. It's so hard to narrow down. HIGHLY recommend the charred octopus. Can't wait to return and have it again!
