Good food, good size portion. But do I need too ASK for gravy on the rice? Usually restaurants ask if you'd like gravy on your rice. Not this time. I guess that's on me for assuming they'd put gravy over dry rice. And just 1 plantain? Really?!!
Hello I normally don’t do reviews, but I was very disappointed today. Today I ordered brown stew chicken with salad. I also ordered brown stew chicken with white rice.First off the staff (the young lady) was not friendly at all. Does it take that much to smile?I ordered two meals, one for myself and the other for my friend that’s quarantined with covid-19.The rice and the salad was good, but the meat was not good. The meat was dry and hard. The meat was also gravy-less.The plantains on the side, did not seem freshly cooked.Furthermore, the stew chicken was served in little bits, whatever happened to good ole identifiable chicken parts, like drumstick, breast etc?I don’t know if the food was from another day, what I can say was neither of us enjoyed our food. The food was discarded.I only wanted to be fair and honest here.I’m hoping that the food improves dramatically. This was actually the first time I came in to the restaurant to try the food, again……. I was very disappointed.Sincerely,NICKNY
Quick tasty lunch spot. Reasonable price.
I had the empanadas and bbq chicken wings. Empanadas were 10/10 the wings tasted like they were warmed up the skin was very chewy and not crunchy. The jerk soup was good. The interior is nice.
Chicken soup was deliciousStew pork was delicious, delicious rum punch. The crab cakes are horrible, its not even real crab meat and they charge so much money for it, all you taste is batter smh..Totally a waste, dont order the crab cakes trust youll be disappointed..
Lovely Ambiance.... the host and Bartender lady Personality is on point. I will visit there soon, Stew peas " it Baddd"chef you did your thing, love it
Chicken soup to start was delicious.Jerk chicken, rice and peas was also super good with plantains. The fried chicken is worth trying too.Would love to try the oxtail sometime.
Great food, I would Definitely still stick with the classics like curry goat or stew chicken. Food was done fast but the service was a little slow. Very cute interior.
May I start off by saying that pre-pandemic Wild Onion was THE place to go for some delicious eats. This place was 1 of 3 eateries I would would recommend to family & friends. Any Rasta pasta was delish, peas and rice authentic, Run down devine and a good portion, oxtail not fatty and tender. In the midst of the pandemic it was in the decline but we understood. Today, 3/7/22 highly disappointing & upset. I’m in disbelief & I repeat can not believe this is the same restaurant that I’d frequent at roughly twice a week. Today I ordered Rasta pasta(basically spicy Alfredo sauce w/okra?) where was my jerk seasoning, bell peppers, thyme and pimentos, Red Snapper Run Down not terrible but not as flavorful as I’m use to w/peas and rice(barely any favor), cabbage & hard plantains? (why), fried bread fruit(no flavor, hard& dry) Jerk chicken was good, Brown Stew Chicken good. It is extremely obvious that this once upon a time restaurant needs a back to basics revamp on there food. As difficult as this review is though I want, desire & believe in supporting my local restaurant you just must do better. Make some significant changes ASAP.
My fiancé and I went to this restaurant last night and ordered oxtail and rice and peas. The food presentation is good however the rice was sour (more like overnight/stale rice) and the oxtail taste good but it was full of oil and the rice was full of gravy. We had to stop eating because it started upsetting our stomach because of the oil. We are extremely disappointed. This is our 3rd time there so we decided to try the oxtail. The staff was not so friendly either. The previous times we were assisted by Cherice (spell check) and it was great. If only she was there that night we know we would have been treated better.
