This is my latest one time snack/breakfast/lunch/dinner stop.Everything means anything served here is delicious and fresh and healthy southern Indian cuisine.Don’t missed it if you’re in New York.

Just amazing. One of the best place to get Dosa at a very cheap price. Been coming here for more than 3 years and never disappointed with the service or the food quality. Recommended to all.

Great food. They are maintaining the good taste over the years. One thing which most of the Indian restaurants in US not able to serve is good chutney ( a side for dosa), but here in the temple canteen it’s good.

For a simple Hindu temple cafe that’s constantly rated high and even getting featured among the best restaurants in the NY state, this place needs no intro. This cafe is attached to the famous Ganesha temple (first Hindu temple to be built in the US and 50 yrs old) and predominantly serves traditional South Indian vegetarian delicacies. The temple does not exclusively advertise this place by carrying sign boards of how to get there. It’s annexed to the temple from outside and a lot of first timers might miss this place just like I did, the first time. They have a “self ordering and token getting” system and your food gets called out on a mic. They have a decent variety of items and the food consistently tastes out of the world. If you are looking for cheap, best and good sized portion, don’t look any further. The best part is that they don’t burn your pocket too. There are some good variety of snacks, savories and desserts that you can buy home.PS - You will need to dispose the food yourself by walking to the trash cans and emptying the trays into them.

Yummy and tasty South Indian food. We loved the Pondicherry masala dosa and mango lassi.

Super affordable and so much flavor. My favorite part of the dosa order is the sambar that comes with it. Plenty of seating and fast service. Will always go here over any other expensive dosa place!

Went here for the first time this weekend, although the flavors were good and the food seemed fairly fresh, our dosas came out soggy. Also, the quantity of sambhar could have been more, or at least provide a refill. Lastly, didn’t like that I had to pay to get a take out container for my food.

We are foodie and love Idly, Dosa and Vada. We are from Boston and visited temple and the temple canteen and tried their Dosa, Idly and Vada and believe me this is one of the best authentic and tastiest Dosa and chutney we have eaten in US in last 7 years. Chutney is very tasty and we loved it. We will again visit here to try more dishes! I would recommend this canteen for best South Indian dishes any day!

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at the canteen! The canteen is located in the basement below the temple. They were checking vaccination status or negative COVID if you were dining in, which we really appreciated. There was a small cute gift shop where we purchased little items. Lunch was extremely affordable with amazing spices. There was quick service and a good variety of options. It is a hindu temple, therefore, all of the options are deliciously vegetarian. There appeared to be many practitioners going to the canteen with family and friends meeting for a meal. My family doesn't happen to be Hindi; however, we felt very welcome by the staff (volunteers?) at the canteen.

Quality and price, no one can beat it! It always tastes like home food.
