The perfect neighborhood sushi spot. Great food, easy to get a table, but still full of patrons, good quality sushi !! It’s nothing fancy but it’s the perfect go-to.. can’t wait to try more of their menu. Went for some rolls and ikura sushi so farTheir spicy miso ramen is like REAL good. I am a strict ramen reviewer and I was impressed. Good as any speciality Japanese ramen shop. Broth fantastic. Noodles cooked to perfection. Great wavy noodles.
I love stopping by this place for a drink at the bar during happy hour (weekdays from 5-7pm) or over the weekend to watch a game on the big projector screen above the bar. Only problem is that they don’t play the audio of the game on the speakers; video only. Either way, the food is great - delicious sushi and excellent hot appetizers - and they have a decent beer selection on tap. I had a couple Brooklyn Brewery IPAs but they also had Brooklyn Lager, your standard Japanese beers like Asahi and Sapporo, and a few others. There’s restaurant seating in the back and up on a mezzanine floor in the rear as well. Overall, I really like Sapp’s both as a bar to grab a quick drink or two or to sit down fora delicious Japanese dinner and would definitely recommend giving this place a try.
Haven't written a review for a bit but this was a must.Service : Front Host and servers were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Made some great recommendations. Always in the small details like my water cup was never empty.Started with grilled octopus , miso cod . The cod was flakey and grilled to perfection. The octopus was charred with a hint of smokey flavor, grilled to the perfect tenderness.Drinks - had a passion fruit mojito. Perfect balance of sourness from the passion fruit to the Mojito. Compliments to the bar tender. I'm not a huge drink fan but there is an extensive list.Curry Pork Kastu and sashimi for entrees. Super fresh fish would definitely order again. The curry was out of this world. Amazing depth of flavor to cover a juice pork Katsu.Lastly we finished with the Cheesecake tempura with matcha ice cream. The slight bitterness of the Match balances the heavier creamy cheesecake exceptionally well.Overall compliments to the chef. We had an amazing dinner.
The food is excellent. Very fresh and tasty sushi and sashimi. Do try the crispy rice: the best in the city. The staff are also so attentive and friendly, and the ambience is perfect for a night of conversation with friends, or an enjoyable meal with someone you love
Probably the best Japanese spot in LIC. Every single plate was outstanding and the prices were pretty good for the area. I will definitely come back for more sushi!
This review comes from someone who frequented St Marks place as a college student and wandered the streets of Tokyo and Kobe, Japan….this is one of the few standalone Japanese restaurants that really was able to capture an authentic Japanese ambience. The sushi was not the best I had but if the Morimoto in Hawaii is a ten, the sushi here would rate an 8.5. The service was impeccable, the food came out quickly and apparently there is a karaoke night on Wednesday’s. My wife ordered a lychee martini which came with a shaker on the side; it was almost as if she got two and a half cocktails for the price of one. This place wasn’t quite as cheap as some of the places in St Marks but was good bang for the buck given the area.
The food was delicious and the staff was so great and kind!!! Loved how they took care of us even when we came in less than an hour before closing. They let you know when the kitchen was going to close and when we get to put in our last minute order. It was also very decorated and very cute! I hope I can come back soon!!
Every dish was yummy but the spicy tuna & spicy salmon rolls have a special place in our tummies. It’s the simple things! Fresh ingredients, perfectly flavored and great portions. Their prices are very good too, especially for the quality! Staff is kind and patient, ready to make recommendations when needed. The space is big, not fancy, but definitely worth a visit. They have sushi roll lunch specials from Mon-Thurs (3 rolls for $15)
Sapps is absolutely 10/10!!Definitely love at the first visit ?The concept of restaurant, the F&B, the service, like everyyyythingggg at this restaurant is BRILLIANT.Either you're local or visitor in NYC, you shouldn't miss this restaurant and I totally recommend Sapps if you wanna have a good vibe with family, friends or partner.Love it!
Sapps is one of the better quality sushi establishments in LIC and in Queens. We have been going here for years and since the pandemic the vibe has changed a bit but the quality of food is still pretty good.We always get the blast roll, rock shrimp tempura, chicken meatballs, and our newest favorite is the miso cod - a must have.Staff is great and the sushi chefs are top notch.
