Great and consistent Italian breads and pastries. Just not 5 stars cause their danishes are incredibly doughy and more like bread rather than pastries with minimal filling and the people working the register are so rude. I don’t need the super fake friendly service but like I shouldn’t feel like I’m doing something wrong by making a purchase. Also as a heads up they are cash only.
The sweets and bread in this bakery are great. However the customer service is terrible. The women who work here are extremely rude. It’s. Very bad for business. As much as I love their bread I won’t be coming there anymore because I don’t need the attitude. There are definitely other hidden gems in NY with good bread.
One of my fav Italian bakeries in NYC. Loooooove their pizza with tomato and olives. Plain croisants are also good ($2.50).Sugar free option available
Had a sign on the door saying open till 2:30 and it was 2:23…she wouldn’t open the door and told me she was closed

(UPDATE: "Here's hoping we can make it up to you next time" was the reply from R&J's to me saying I wasn't spending any more money there-- proving that they can't be bothered, they don't believe that anyone would actually stop patronizing their business.)Is Rose & Joe's good? Sure. I've been coming here for years, and the bread & pastries are tasty, so I just keep putting it out of my mind just how rude and surly everyone is who works here. And I don't mean the original old school crew, it seems like every NEW face they bring in to work there has the same attitude. No matter how pleasant I am, my "hello" or "good morning" is, more often than not, met with a blank look of "What do you want?" God love 'em, they've been in the neighborhood forever, so they're doing fine. I just refuse to spend any money in there from this day on
Worst customer service ever. I’ve been shopping at this bakery for 3 years and won’t step foot in it again. The women that work in there are terribly rude and act as if you are a burden to serve. They really have lost touch that they work in customer service Reached out to the owner about this and it seemed to make the issue worse. His excuse is it’s hard to find people to work… There’s 3 other bakery’s in walking distance to this that I would highly suggest over this. The one around the corner has a lovely staff.
The only problem I have with this place is that their black & white cookies are too good - I've been coming almost 2x a week for years.
