When i looked up lunch menu . it said $5.99. So we went in . $5.99 menu was NO longer. Was told"That's was a long time ago". No longer good. Was told even if boss was there he wouldn't give to us for that price.? and the workers need a class on how to talk to customer. Very poor customer service. Yet because i loved rib shack food i ordered and paid thr extra $2. Years ago i loved the rib shack. Best soul food. Now food is dry just not good.?
Rotisserie chicken is delicious. Collard greens are not good. Mac and cheese not that good. Yams, not sweet enough. They need to improve the sides but most of the meat is very good. The price is also good.
Been coming here since the 70's. This place used to be the bomb. I move to ATL several years back and wd come here when I was in the area. Most all the folks I knew are gone and it seems it was taken over by West Indians - really? The original owners were from the south. Went back a few months ago. The potato salad which was a favorite is not the same at all, the chopped barbecue they load up with red pepper flakes making it unpalatable. My husband who is not picky doesn't even like it anymore. Why change a great thing. The food was great! Lines out the door. Whenever I pass by now it mostly empty. Everyone seems to like the Door across from Rochdale, which I tried and was disappointed. They have lines out the door and you need to order in advance. Anyway, I miss the quality, flavors and the people at the old Rib Shack. ALSO THEY HAVE AN EXPIRED HEALTH STICKER POSTED ON THEIR WINDOW - HMMM! Hope to find a replacement for RS. So far no luck. Amazingly, I find better food in ATL than here in NY, which is known for it's great food, especially ethnic. Have to keep looking, sigh.
Solid soul spot in Jamaica, Quens. Going strong for over 40 years. Different ownership and cooks but still quality soul food with some savory carribbean dishes as well.
Back in the 80 the line was out the door. I’m went back maybe 5 years old seems like the fell out. After seeing the reviews I might go back & see 4 my self how good the food is. We need a soul food restaurant in queens. I’m sick of Chinese food on every corners .
Stop here after reading they gave food to the people during a power outage. I wanted to show my support by being a customer. I'm a Uber driver from CT I stop here every time I get a trip to JFK.
My husband, our aunt and I really enjoyed their fish dinner (whitings), baked chicken and potato salad. The fish was as fresh as it could be and flavorful. My husband is in love with their barbecue sauce. We will definitely be back.
I had a taste for bbq so the name Rib Shack jumped out at me. When received the ribs were so tough. I like my ribs tender and practically falling off the bone. And the cole slaw pieces were the size of short noodles and drowning in mayo. Would have loved to give a better review but unfortunately I couldn’t. Please do better. Did not enjoy my meal at all except for the Spinach Rice. That was practically $30. down the drain. Should have taken pictures but I threw it out.
I visited this spot after many years and remembered how delicious it used to be. Wow was I disappointed!!! Flavorless Mac& cheese with just a layer on top, no cheese throughout. Fried fish under seasoned with coating falling off. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY! NEVER AGAIN!!
I've known this place since I was a child. It has deteriorated greatly since my early days. I ordered barbecue chicken: sauce looked like watery ketchup. I passed on sauce. Candied yams looked and tasted like canned yams (no flavor, just sweet). I ordered dessert, banana pudding; it was soooo sweet I had to throw it away. And I'm a sugar fanatic, but this banana pudding was so sweet, I took two spoonfuls and threw the rest out. And I love banana pudding. I could've made the entire meal much better myself.
