If you live in Elmhurst Queens and or nearby then you know of this legendary Pho joint. Many in the area has come and gone but this place has stood the test of time. Every bowl of Pho is accompanied by the most flavorful broth and served fresh, hot and fast. Don’t forget the fried spring rolls or summer rolls for that perfect pairing.Busy all hours and cash only. The area is super congested with pedestrians and traffic but worth the trip over all other Vietnamese restaurant.
The Pho Bang in Manhattan is better.Pho?: I prefer my pho piping hot, but mine was room temperature so the meat cooked really slow. The soup wasn't as broth-y, but I'm glad it wasn't overly salty. For guys, I recommend to order a bigger portion if you're not eating side dishes. The normal bowl is small.Beef w/ Rice (Bo Luc Lac Banh Mi Hoac Com?) ??: Not bad, but also not great. The sauce on the beef tasted like it was lacking something. Very few pieces. I'd stick to the pho or grilled chicken. The appetizer (I forgot the name) was the best of out the three. The chicken was a little dry and can use more lemongrass. Cucumber needs to be cut in slices so it's easier to eat. Lettuce was not as fresh as it should be.Three dishes came out to $40 plus tax before tips.. The service from the waitress was good.
Majority of the time I come here for pho, the broth is flavorful and consistent. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember as a kid. The Asian woman still remembers my family, which is touching. I have been loyal to this pho spot forever. Their spring rolls are so good, it’s a must try. Their summer rolls are really bland, I didn’t like it. One time I had their pho and I said the broth was bland and the woman that knows me mentioned it to the chef and brought me out a bowl of brother to try & it was still bland. The guy came out and asked who it was and just kept staring at me in a rude way. I felt very uncomfortable like he was just talking bad right in front of me. The only way to stay a successful business is by taking constructive criticism and applying it to good use. I love coming here, my pho always gets served within 5 mins or so.
Best place in queens for Pho. I got the Beef Pho with Tendon and it's enough to fill you up. Broth tastes great, meat portion size is plentiful and for the price you can't beat it. I got a Large Bowl and it filled me up, haven't been able to try the extra large bowl yet. Also tried the Summer Roll, it wasn't bad, but you definitely. need it with the peanut butter. For the Pho alone I would come back.
order lg pho and 1 large order of spring rolls. they were amazing. However had to ask for another plate of bean sprouts. they tried to stiff on that. also they only give ice water when u ask. attentive wait staff. if raining bring plastic bag and keep your umbrella in it and keep with u. they want everyone to put in a bin in front and someone took another person's umbrella. big fuss
So I came in with two of my girlfriends, as we ordered the waiter just walked away, so I though was waiting for us to order. then we started to order and then as we finished I asked the waiter if he can serve all of us water he just literally grapped the menus and left. So then I asked for water for all of us after few mins, he gave water to only me so I thought he heard me say only me so I asked for water again n then he started yelling at me saying “ask everything at once don’t make me go back and forth” I was like omg I did.. it was a terrible experience, I was actually so excited when opened up again.. SMH!! But the food was great so no problem with that..the pic below is the guy!!Food 5 starCustomer service 0
I usually drop in on Sunday mornings after shopping and visiting the Thai Temple in the neighborhood. Never had a bad meal, super quick speedy service. Highly recommend fried spring rolls and pho as some of the best in NYC. It's all about the food people. Cash only.
Beef pho with tendon is just perfect to beat the freezing weather. Please note they only accept cash.
Rejoice! The original Pho Bang in Elmhurst has reopened again, after years of being closed. Although I’ve dined here multiple times throughout my childhood with my family, it was Ben’s first time at this iconic Vietnamese spot. Although there are a couple Vietnamese restaurants all within a few minutes walk from each other (Pho Bac & Pho Best), Pho Bang is definitely my favorite. It’s a no-frills restaurant that’s always packed. We ordered #3 Cha Gio (Vietnamese Crispy Spring Rolls) and two #29 Tai Nam Gan Sach (rice noodles beef broth pho bo). The spring rolls contain a mixture of pork, chicken, crabmeat, and black mushroom. The pho contains fresh eye of round, navel, tendon, and omosa. If you want the meats well done, go for #30 Chin Nam Gan Sach pho!Cha Gio (Vietnamese Crispy Spring Rolls):4 pieces for $7.508 pieces for $14Pho bowl sizes:Regular bowl $11Large bowl $11.50Extra large bowl $12Ben ordered the extra large pho bowl and I got the large pho bowl. The patrons come in non-stop at Pho Bang (we were there at 2:30pm on a Sunday - no wait), so the workers have a very efficient system of getting the orders out to the customers as fast as possible. We even got our pho bowls before the appetizer came! The crispy spring rolls were just the right amount of crunch on the outside and chewiness on the inside. Love the sauce it comes with. Don’t forget to wrap the spring rolls up in the large leafy greens! To no surprise, the bowls of pho left us feeling both super full and satisfied. Can’t go wrong with a steaming bowl of pho on a cold winter day in NYC. You can park in the parking lot (although it’s usually difficult to get a spot) and you pay at the front desk after your meal (cash only).Pho Bang is such an Elmhurst classic; we’ll definitely be back again!
Amidst these raving reviews, I’m going to offer a different opinion.I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, minus the few years it was closed. The taste isn’t what it used to be, and to be honest is mediocre compared to its competitors nearby. The broth is watery and tasteless, the beef stiff and hard to chew. They are however liberal and generous with the amount of tendons and omosasMaybe I was given a poor batch, I’m willing to try again. Until then I’ll leave this review here
