This is a good old style diner. Friendly staff. Went for breakfast. The poached eggs were perfect. Great value for money. Close to the subway station.
Hello, I ordered grits with eggs over easy with sausage patties. After getting to my destination, "I ordered take out", I opened the bag to retrieve my meal. The grits were "ok", could have been a lot better! My eggs were fried, hard, no running yolk!! TOTALLY SUCKS!!! My sausage "patties" were links!!! I DID NOT ASK!! for links!!! And on top of all of that, my bill was just under $11.00!! WHAT?? I will NEVER go back there again!!!!
What can you say about a diner that has been open since the the 1930's? They serve food the right way. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. 24 hours a day. Chicken noodle soup, a simple comfort food with thin noodles. No doubt homemade and not from a can. The rueben sandwich, more tgan a mouthfull, with a flavorful sauerkraut, not the traditional silver floss, store bought, but seasoned to perfection. A full menu of options to satisfy everyone. One of my favorites in Astoria that my grandmother first brought me to 50 years ago. Enjoy the variety of options.
I barely write bad reviews because I know how important reviews are, but I can’t hold this one. I’ve been going to Mike’s for years and I never had problems. Last time I went with my husband and daughter, all the staff ignored us and didn’t serve us water or gave us the menu (we waited about 20 minutes and saw all the other people who came after us that were already getting their food). Not sure why, considering we have been going there for years and always had a great relationship with almost all of them - the bald guy (not sure what his name or position is) is rude and unfriendly and gave us some hard time in the past, making us feel that we were inconveniencing him by being customers there, like we were bothering him. I feel very bad saying it, but we will never go there anymore. Their treatment (last time we went) was awful! Mike’s, you have lost 3 valid customers!
I always order Soup there. Is delicious. Its very cheap and you really can stay sit and enjoy your food and not feeling you have to finish because you have long time sitting… Costumer service is good.
Fantastic diner! They have everything on the menu you can think of, and the prices are crazy reasonable. Good location, and the staff is that perfect balance of visiting you when you need it, but not coming by every 30 seconds. They perfectly have that classic diner vibe.
I use to order from here alot and the food was always great but lately I don't know what's been going on. Today was the last straw for me. I ordered a fried egg sandwich that barely had any egg on it. You could probably get a better fried egg sandwich from any where else in nyc if this is what Mike's diner is putting out.
Ordered a Turkey panini & omg i am disgusted at what i was served . They use low quality ingredients. The Turkey was a cheap cold cut brand that was cold and slimy . Even the bread was dry . Overall i hate giving small businesses bad reviews, but this was well deserved. I would’ve been better off eating fast food
What a disgrace. Ordered pastichio which was covered in tomato sauce ….. that’s not how you make pastichio. Was served with frozen veggies that were not cooked all the way thru. This place should be lucky they are even open at this point. Never again.
The staff is great. The food is great. One star off for no free soda refills
