My friend recommended this place and it didn't disappoint. The Hawaiian empanadas were delicious!
Mama’s never fails to hit the spot. This place is an all time favorite. The empanadas which a tad smaller then some, are tasty and reasonably priced. I usually get the corn empanada will ground beef along with a variety of fried wheat ones such as pork, Mac and cheese w/ hot dog, meatball parm, and pizza. I also love their mozzareapa and salchipapa. I absolutely love coming here
Simply the best empanadas outside of Colombia itself. I will go there whenever I am in NY and bring some back home (about 50 of them) to Florida. They sell them frozen in bags so I bring them back with me on the plane.
We are just addicted to this place almost every Friday.We love the sheet kabab and the spicy food. They know us now and we feel like we are part of the family. Always nice and welcoming and the food is always the same quality and taste.All the best
I haven't had Mama's Empanadas in a long time, I was passing by and saw this joint, and hey! Why not! 3 ppl behind the counter none of them greet, nor said anything for a good while? for a second I thought I was invisible ? I remember a while back when I use go out and find some MAMA Empanadas, service was always welcoming, even if they were busy.This place falls short in flavor and service.Ps. Did they change the way they make them?? It's shell is so thought and thick?Also $10 minimum to use a debit or credit card? Yikes...
Mama’s empanadas were so good. The empanadas were on the smaller side but I didn’t mind it because they were generously stuffed with fillings. I tried beef, chicken and pepperoni and LOVED every single one of them. Totally recommend them if you are in the area and looking for a quick bite. As per the customer service, if it is a takeout place, I don’t really care as long as I get my food, but the girls behind the counter were quite friendly. I can see why this place is a local staple.
Worst customer service in Astoria Queens. Girls behind the register are rude. They made horrible comments about customers when customers leave the place & not verifying other customers are not listening. They treat customers terrible. I would never visit this place. Terrible policy about sauce when one buys two empanadas.

The typical wait time is between 10 to 15 minutes after you place your order. The main reason is because they make them fresh, but this is only for a regular order of 2 to 5 items. I'd imagine the wait time being higher for a larger order.Time of day also plays a factor in wait time.If you are going to drive here then I HIGHLY recommend you call in and place your order ahead of time because there is no dedicated parking space and this is a very active commercial street. There is only meter parking and that is almost always taken. So expect to see a lot of double parked vehicles in this area.With that said, it's a great spot for a litany of fresh made empanadas and other lunch and dinner items. Enjoy!
I order 4 baked empanadas . It was served COLD . This place small heater is off . It is very cold in here . Temperature outside NY city is 27 inside feel 20 degrees.
