The owner of this place is the definition of Egyptian hospitality. My friends and I always feel welcomed, he would shake our hands and tells us stories. The food is good here, our favorites are always chicken tagine, and fatta with garlic red sauce!
We went there for iftar today and we ordered mix grill, mix feeter, fries and one more Egyptian dish. We used to have mix grill before and so today but last time and this time grill was not good at all mix grill large used to be $60 but this time they increased the price n it was $60 for medium rice in that grill wasn’t seasoned it was just plain rice there was only lamb n beef only 2 pieces of chicken and that’s it meat was too dry and hard to chew. Also now they charge service fee after that they charge tax which is obvious but then I payed with my card and they charge me for paying with card as well like for real? In a restaurant ofc everyone pay with card and no one charge that fee well in short . No more LUXOR FETER
If you are looking for authentic Egyptian food , stay away from this place. It used to be authentic, but I don’t know what happened that it became a Hispanic restaurant. I used to come here when it was authentic Egyptian and ordered the mixed grill , it was authentic Egyptian rice with hummus, tziki sauce, and meat, now it is yellow rice (Hispanic rice), the sauce is Mayo , no more hummus, tziki, the chicken was raw we sent it back. And the music, omg , it was loud Hispanic music, Nothing against that (I am Hispanic), but I am not expecting to come to a Egyptian restaurant to hear jannifer Lopez, Farruko, etc. when it came time to pay the bill , surprise my sprite was $5 dollars, yes $5. Sorry you lost a customer, this place was wonderful before with authentic Mediterranean food, now you can find arepas, mofongo, pizzas, crazy….
Great Egyptian restaurant “Luxor Feteer” mesmerising atmosphere and traditional food in unique style, love it
We first went to Mombar, Egyptian (25-22 Steinway St, Astoria, NY 11103) but the door was locked. When we pounded on it, a man came to the door and said the restaurant had a problem and couldn’t open that night. We were at a loss, but had seen (driving from the F subway station in a taxi) an elaborate Egyptian store front. We saw a Q101 bus and hopped on going back to 30-91 Steinway. We were worried that it would turn out to be a sheesha joint. There was some kind of bar upstairs but the downstairs was a restaurant that had big tables of families when we walked in (all ordering feteer/pizza that takes 30 minutes to prepare). We found a table in the back and used the QR code to find the menu. That menu was odd, with Latin Specialties and mostly feteer (Egyptian pizza) on it. The better menu can be found at seamless. We asked and we were told that they had molukhyah $7 (the soup that Dimitri likes), falafel (freshly made) $9 and stuffed Mahshi cabbage ($10) leaves. We also had 3 glasses of syrah from the bar upstairs ($10 x3). The food was good enough, the music was Egyptian and very, very loud. The experience was not bad but not pleasant either. We spent $62 plus an automatically added $11.20 tip.
Amazing experience. Very very good service and the food tastes amazing. Love the atmosphere and how welcoming everyone. Very live and warm.
I have to say that I have never tried Middle eastern food as delicious as the one I had here. To begin, the the place is beautiful inside and out starting from the gorgeous waterfall in the front entrance and to the gold accent and Egyptian themed decor. The staff are the most friendliest and warm welcoming I have ever come across, making you feel very comfortable. The quality of the food is amazing and you can feel the homeland touch and passion output into the creation of the dishes. The variety yet key items on the menu make it easy to order. Bring an appetite. Must try dessert as well. Another big plus is the separate upstairs atmosphere where you can enjoy a variety of flavors of hookah with a date family or friends. Make sure you try the Egyptian pizza. I am from Jersey yet will make this a go to spot on the regular from now on.
If you want an authentic Egyptian feteer dinner, come here. The first thing you’ll notice is that you’re walking into a facsimile of an Egyptian temple complex - all parts I understand were brought in from Egypt. This will either intrigue you greatly or concern you of the risk of tourist trap - but don’t let it deter you if so, because the food is to dine for!
Amazing food. I came here multiple times. The feteer is amazing especially with their dinner and desert ones. Faculty and staff are very polite and make you feel very comfy 10/10
I had the lambs chops and they were amazing. Everything I ate was delicious. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. This place is very recommended and I will go back.
