This place is inside the new food hall on Jackson Ave, Jacx & Co.. The food was really delicious. I got the chicken topped with scallion oil and mapo tofu and long beans as sides. The chicken was moist, tender and fell off the bone. The scallion oil was yummy. The mapo tofu was good, not overly spicy. And the long beans were good too. Portion was big. If I had to compare to traditional Chinese food from Chinatown, this place tastes healthier. There's definitely a difference in type of ingredients used but that's reflected in the price of course.
I've ordered from here several times now through Doordash. In my last order last week, I found a piece of what looks like dental floss in my food, which was really gross. I don't know what it was. I emailed the business to let them know. It's been almost a week, and they have not responded or acknowledged my email, which is shocking. The food is also inconsistent. The first time I ordered the mapo tofu, it was so bland and flavorless, like the spices had just been cooked with the tofu for 3 minutes. The second and third time, the mapo tofu was pretty good. Still not as flavorful as I'm used to, but better than the first time. The first time I ordered, they gave me a generous portion of rice, and the salmon was fresh. The second and third time, the rice they gave me was so small in portion, the char siu pork was dry and tough, and the red braised beef too tough and full of gristle.
Just because this place labels itself as healthy doesn't mean that every bite isn't freaking delicious. I ordered the make-your-own bowl with pork, eggplant, and mushrooms, along with the congee dish and both were SPECTACULAR. They offer many options for customization, and the overall pricing for quality is superb (read: you get a lot of bang for every buck).
I’m surprised by the one star reviews, this place is a godsend. You are paying only 15 dollars for a high quality bowl with huge portions and can eat it at Jacx & Co which is a beautiful modern food court. Since it’s a food court you can even bring your own rice and eat it with their a la cart meats. It’s such amazing value and the founders have done a wonderful job.Yes they are a bit understaffed so there is a wait, but for good reason. You may notice that this restaurant is the only one with a line in Jacx & Co.Also do keep in mind that if you show up within one hour of closing, they run out of items so be prepared to have alternatives.
I love this place! I always get the multigrain congee because it’s delicious and a modern twist to a basic comfort food. I’ve ordered this same dish 3 times now and the service is always friendly and nice. I’ll definitely be returning!
Nice spot inside Jacx&Co with a variety of bowls. I got the mixed congee bowl. Congee is a traditional comfort food so I love how they incorporated fusion elements with traditional flavors. This bowl adds texture to a congee with ramen toppings and congee condiments. The result is a comfort food with a twist. Will definitely be back to try other items on their menu.
Cantonese inspired food that is both delicious and affordable. It’s a rare find of reasonably healthy comfort food. Lotus + Cleaver is immediately making its way into my restaurant rotation.
This place is legit! I've never had a bad dish here - their beef noodles are also 100% authentic and super tasty. Don't miss out on it!
Superbly high quality and good value meals. Portions are large. Get Char Siu with two side veggies (Taiwanese cabbage, shredded tofu, cucumber are great options) and a base carb for only $15.
Ordered seasonal platter. Has the braised beef with vegetables. The sauce and the vegetables were great. The meat was literally inedible. All the chunks of meat were full fat. The gal at the counter was not very nice when I told her. I asked for a different protein and she didn’t want to give to me. She reluctantly gave me a small plate of char siu. Which was also very fatty. Not great for a restaurant that claims to be health food. Would not go there again
