Not bad but Pricey

Our first visit to Astoria was a true experience! Step one - grab several plastic bags and line up to choose your fresh seafood. Step 2 - Now line up to have your selections weighed, decide how you want it prepared and pay. Step 3 - stand out front (be prepared for a 40-45min wait) until they yell out your name and find you a table. Step 4 - enjoy some of the best seafood you will ever have. Did I forget to mention you can (unofficially) bring your own wine/beer to have during your meal? It’s a bit of a sensory overload while you are inside…loud music, people talking….but fun!! We had shrimp, clams, mussels, halibut and salad - $75 for the two of us and we were very full….and extremely happy!!

Superb atmosphere and super personal service. The food was crisp and delicious. Will clearly recommend this spot to others. Convenient rates and large meals. Good job.

Combo fish market and restaurant. Pick out your choice of a vast variety of fresh seafood and fish, have it weighed decide how you want it cooked, grilled in olive oil garlic and lemon, fried or steamed in broth as in clams and mussels. Pick a soft drink or mineral water. Maybe greek style potatoes, coleslaw and/or garlic bread. BYOB is fine. Maybe BRYO knife and fork because the plastic ones that you are given don't work on lobster. Plenty of outdoor space but be prepared to wait either for a table or at a table outside until the food comes. On this beautiful day here in NYC it was all well worth it. And a small suggestion: Maybe a black board with the next person's name on in so that the waiter doesn't have to run in, listen to the next name on the list, write it down and then call it out with hopefully the right spelling. Or maybe not because then it would be less fun.

Fresh fish, always a plus

if you want fresh fish

Great place to eat fresh sefood with fresh and family. You choose your seafood, they will weigh it, then they will ask you how you you want them to cook it. Prices are affordable, nd you can bring your own alcohol....

Great place

This place is simply amazing. You walk around and pick up your own fish and have it fried or grilled, it chaos inside but good fun. Fish and sides are delicious. Reasonably priced.
