Chapli & Chips is the #1 Chapli Kabob available in NYC and 1 of the top food carts of NY in general. While NYC has hundreds of carts with various cuisine, this cart is unique and the quality and taste is hands down authentic and delicious. It is fragrant, filling, and satisfying and the workers are very wonderful to interact with and are very personable. They will remember you and are always very cordial. Thank you for bringing authentic, wonderful, and clean food to the area.
The meat texture and flavour is to die for, the salad is super fresh, chips seem to be handmade, the rice just tops everything off. I recommend going light on the sauces so the flavours of the meat can shine. $10 for combination. They open at 6pm but usually prep for first 30min, but I would get there early as is gets REALLY busy, people know what’s up and where the good stuffs at. ;)
Big fan of NYCs halal food carts, so My cousins recommended this place to try their delicious Chapli kebab. They have a limited item menu which is the best thing about this place. The staff was welcoming and friendly, Followed all the instructions happily. Food here is fresh, delicious and they give you big portions. Reasonable price and u definitely won’t get such quality and quantity in restaurants here in NYC. Chapli kebab platter was delicious. Thank you.
This cart has some of the best halal food in the neighborhood. The wait is long and but the food is cooked fresh with lots of halal love. I order the beef and chicken Chapli and both were very tasty and satisfying. The platter comes with meat, rice, fries, salad and few strips of pita bread plus sauces. Somehow the Chapli reminds me of some good ole grandma's old-fashioned meatloaf cooked to perfection. The only complaint I have is that the fries are not completely cooked and tasted like raw potatoes. If they can make the fries early and not last min this platter is a perfect 10 in my book. Forget the fish & chips...this neighborhood double crowns the Chapli & chips with halal blessings.
We were looking forward to enjoying cart food from Chapli & Chips that wasn't your typical chicken over rice. With the Platter coming in with Chapli kabob, fries, rice, naan, salad and sauces, it was our default choice. Piece by piece, we knew we had something well-cooked and satisfying. The fries were freshly-cut and crispy, the rice were fragrant and the Kicker sauce was a great compliment to the meal. Given the name, our expectations for the Chapli kabob itself were high and unfortunately weren't met. Our understanding of Chapli kabob is a wide, flat kabob loaded with spice including whole coriander and pomegranate seeds which wasn't the case; it tasted more like a burger patty with some more spice consideration. Additionally, the naan bread was undoubtedly chopped tortilla which we felt was misleading given Afghani cuisine's admiration of bread. Paying respect to the fact we were eating from a street cart and not a restaurant, we found Chapli & Chips to be filling, different, and an overall well-executed eatery.
Amazing food! This is something new and they are killing it! That kicker sauce was bangin. They have authentic home style Afghan food and it’s with good service. Once again, I love how this is new and not the same old same old carts.
Really nice people making fantastic food. Got the mixed chicken and beef and it was so good we went and got it again next week. Not a short trek out there either! But totally worth it.
First learnt about this spot from The NY Times article on best new restaurants in 2021. Made the trek out from Brooklyn and it did not disappoint! Bursting with flavor and fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!
Food is amazing i love coming here to get my food the people here treat you like family and they try an accommodate to the best of their abilityPeople! try and understand it is a food cart and not a 5 star restaurantAnd the fact that a cart is making food better than a 5 star restaurant there is a little wait other then thatMY GO TO SPOT ON HILLSIDE !
Drove from NJ to NYC at 10 pm just to try this and it was definitely worth it. The price is great for the taste and portion of food. Will definitely be going back there some time soon!!
