Best Mexican food I've had in Astoria in a long time. Had the fish burrito and I loved it. Excellent service as well. Will definitely come back soon.
Went here on Father's Day, ready to have a big celebratory lunch with all the margaritas. It was sort of busy, but not too crazy. We were seated promptly, however no one checked on us for over 10 minutes. Around the 15min mark, My wife simply raised her hand and said" excuse me, we're ready to order", and the server replied" I'll be right there you don't have to be so rude. "We were understandably shocked at his response and proceeded to leave immediately. Having been as server for the better part of a decade, I would have been fired on the spot at all the places I've worked if I had ever yelled that to a customer across a full dining room. This really sucks because we were so excited to have calexico in our new neighborhood after being loyal customers to the park slope location for years. Oh well, good thing there's a million other Mexican restaurants in Astoria we'd gladly check out.
Como Chef con 15 años en la industria, cené hoy en dicho establecimiento y honestamente tenía esperanzas de más pero me quedaron debiendo. We ordered the Crispy Tacos (Tacos Dorados), The Nachos, The Pork Taco and the Fish Taco. The Nachos & the Tacos Dorados saved the night because the Pork Taco contained cabbage that was completely out of place and Fish Taco contained pineapple which was also out of place... (For better effect stick to the basics: Pork (Pastor)/ Pineapple & Taco de Pescado/ Cabbage)Overall the service was good and attentive so definitely would recommend it and consider coming in the future
One of the greatest Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a while. Staff was friendly and understood the entire menu. Food was delicious but the margaritas were out of this world. Highly recommend to anyone in Astoria.
Great location, friendly staff and really good food. The tacos were really good and I loved the tostada salad w/grilled chicken. I'm bringing friends next time.
Great staff, beautiful ambiance, great food. 5/5.Just wanted to do a quick edit after my second time here: we came on a super packed night and were seated after a fair and accurate wait time. The food was great (again!), portions are fair for price (and so extremely delicious!) Drinks are boozy and also so yummy. From hostess to waitstaff I felt welcomed and prioritized. Each and every employee I encountered was helpful and pleasant. This place is exactly what Astoria needs. Very grateful to have a new go to spot.If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.
Excellent food. One suggestion, when you order a burrito, the list of ingredients on the menu does not exactly match what they put in the burrito...so clarify with your waiter to ensure they don't randomly put stuff in there that isn't listed on the menu. For example, the steak burrito has come with beans and radishes both times now even though they aren't listed as items in the burrito on the menu. I thought it was a fluke the first time, but they did it again one more time.
Friendly, efficient bartenders serving up great drinks. And some of the best fajitas I’ve ever had! Great location and when the bar windows are open it’s especially beautiful. Great music, too. Such a great addition to the neighborhood!
First time here and honestly the worst Mexican food I’ve had in NYC. great location and ambiance but the food was really bland. We had the Cali burrito, three different tacos, two margaritas and queso fundido. Nothing was really good and the margaritas were a bit watered down. I’d say go elsewhere.
The food is okay, definitely edible! Something just seemed off about the whole place, super white washed vibe for a Mexican place (not all staff was white… it was just such a weird vibe) It was like if a random person from the landlocked Midwest with zero Latin roots tried to do Mexican food. Esquites just totally wonky and overwhelmingly mayo flavored. Don’t even get me started on the music playing I would recommend a burrito bowl, chipotle pork was palatable.
