Was taken here on a spur of the moment first date Tuesday evening 6/7/22 . It was fabulous. The restaurant and my date were both stunning. The staff was very attentive in kind. I could not forget my servers' name , "Gary", because that is my brother's name. He was awesome as well...just like my brother. The wine list was extensive, which I loved and the food , at least what I had was a 10( Scallops) My date had the biggest porterhouse steak Ive ever seen. He wound taking most of it home. I will be going back there again this coming Sat with my family !!!!!!!!! 10 stars for me !!!!!!!
After a very long day having flown in from England and arriving at the restaurant late in our body clicks it was a delight to collapse into such fabulous surroundings We sat outside on the terrace fabulous views Huge menu to choose from the starters were huge . Calamari three times the size of a Uk portion I had the lobster roll with Parmesan truffle fries everyone enjoyed their meals we were a group of 12 Very good service
We dined in May 2022 to celebrate my daughter's graduation from college. The restaurant was not ready for a large crowd, it appeared. Most of the staff seemed to be in training; the service was terrible -- drinks and hors d'oeuvres we ordered never arrived. When the meal finally came (an hour and a half after our arrival) three of the five entrees were almost not edible. Two pasta dishes appeared to have been ready long before they was served and then reheated in a microwave which made the pasta totally dried out and stuck together. I could not eat mine. Another dish was so salty, the person could not eat it. One of our party had been to the restaurant two weeks before and claimed it was very good. For us it was miserable -- I assume a bad night for the chef and the waiters. I had made the reservation back in March and was told we would be seated with a view of the Hudson River, but we were put in a booth at the very back of the restaurant with no windows whatsoever where the air conditioning appeared not to be working either. Needless to say, we were disappointed.
Snobs! Called and they said reservations are not needed. We got there and they told us we would have to wait at the bar for at least 20mins with no reservations. OK, we went to the bar and there was maybe 25% capacity. We asked for a table with river view on the deck and they seated us behind the outside bar while there was 3 empty tables with the requested view. We inquired about those tables and they told us those tables were not available. We sat and finished our drinks from the bar and now a other 30 mins later and those same tables were available. We asked again and they became rude. When the waitress came to take our order we simply asked for the check and left. The staff is very stuck up and unwelcoming. We will avoid this place like the plague.
Shadows on the Hudson has a spectacular setting along the river. Large windows and french doors open out to viewing decks overlooking the river, the forest on the opposite bank and the north bound trains. They offer a tantalizing menu with some thing for every taste. I thoroughly enjoyed the prawn starter on garlic bread, delicious! The restaurant is quite large with a fireplace in the centre, creating a cozy vibe. The service was efficient and friendly. A family friendly restaurant. It was delightful to see the lovely rainbow on our way out. Enjoyed lunch for 9 people on 9 April 2022.
I picked up four meals for takeout today for a very important birthday celebration. The meals were expertly made and had lots of flavor and quality. I was very thankful that the hosts did a good job of calling me back about changing my order. Absolutely the best part of my experience there today was being able to see Casey. When you spend good money at a business especially a restaurant it is great to see someone who asks how you are doing and is truly genuine and kind. Just seeing her today and knowing that she is still an important member of the team makes me want to frequent that restaurant. Thank you Shadows for having such a great asset as Casey on your management team. It makes all the difference in the world?
Shadows on the Hudson is a truly fantastic culinary experience! The food is scrumptious and the menu offers a variety of meal choices such as Italian dishes (ravioli, calamari), American food like burgers and pizza, steak, seafood and much more. Sometimes there's so many great food selections that it's hard to decide what to order.The inside decor is very nice. As far as the outdoors, the view is amazingly breathtaking especially being located along the Hudson River.Another fact is celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, graduations and so forth happen at Shadows.Shadows has a liquor license so they have alcoholic drinks available. I enjoy their ? wine.The prices can be somewhat pricey as it's a more upscale type of restaurant. It's worth the price of admission, so to speak.I encourage people to give this place a try if you haven't already done so.
