I was asked to give The Grand in Poughkeepsie another try...I did. Shakila at the front desk is Fantastic!! A true Gem and a huge improvement and asset to the property. Colleen in the Bar on Friday nights....Oh Yeah! Give me that Pistachio Martini!!! I have to say the changes made between my June 2022 and July 2022 visit were Astronomical Improvements. The GM has brought in peeps that are making this a Great place to stay. I will be back in a few weeks!!! See Ya Then!!!
5 star review for the outstanding service we received from the catering staff, Jim Hutchinson, General Manager and Nick. We appreciate the team that made this day a success. The dressing room was clean, had ample room for 15 people and the food was delivered as scheduled and exceeded our expectations. Nick was helpful, gracious and attentive. Just got here, great front desk employee Ana. Very Professional & Polite & Friendly! Definitely deserves a bonus& a raise.Plus she's very knowledgeable & deserves a Manager's job.Will be staying 5 days 4 nights for my Daughter's Wedding Saturday!Will write another review once I leave. But feel at home & very happy with there services!!!
I will go on great detail tomorrow and not here but in the news. Not only did I get food poisoning one night, I could have died in fire and no.one called or said they would help me. Read more tomorrow. Have NOT heard from Manager. A Disabled Veteran.
Upon trying to check in, the over night front desk personnel claimed he did not have access to our reservation via the hotel system. I showed him our confirmation on my phone in the reservation app as well as my email confirmation. He refused to check us in with my valid confirmation numbers and instead tried to convince us that our only option was to re-book directly through him/ the hotel, re-pay for the room, and hope that the hotel would refund us the next day for the double charge without any sort of confirmation that we wound be refunded for the double charge. When I requested that he give something in writing that he could not find the reservation in the hotel system with the confirmation numbers provided so that I could ensure I would be able to receive a refund from the booking party, he refused. Frankly, his behavior was unprofessional, rude, and reeked of foul-play. His behavior very much seems like this hotel is trying to make up costs in sketchy and unprofessional ways. I highly do not recommend trying to stay with this hotel. What could have been a fun end to our night resulted in unreasonable stress.
First off the location got three stars because of the area. The hotel is fairly close to Amtrak and Metro-North Poughkeepsie station, and the walkway over the Hudson. The hotel itself was beautiful, service was wonderful, breakfast was lovely. Rooms were nice and cool air conditioner worked great. The entire staff was friendly and helpful greeted with a smile always. The lobby also has a very nice bar good atmosphere Good drinks.
The staff was very accommodating with our stay. The bar tender Nina was excellent. Friendly and kept the place going through a rush while making it look easy. The room was nice too.
The whole staff was so wonderful, especially starting with Gina to Jasmine to Nina, absolutely spectacular service for our daughter and our new son in laws rehearsal dinner and wedding! We would highly recommend this venue for your memorable events! In addition, all the food was amazing on their large variety of menus. 5 stars for sure!! Thank you for the wonderful celebration! First stay in June 2022....Front Desk, Customer service big Fail. Food/Beverage were Outstanding. I have just now checked out from second stay at this Hotel. I have requested a call from the Manager 4 times, onsite visit requested one time. I have not heard from a Manager at all. Front desk "I don't know when they'll be in" "That's not my job" "That's just the way it is" Food and Beverage lost a good employee between last visit and this visit Expect communications failures and have low expectations if you stay here. I cannot in good conscience give them any more of my hard earned money. I will suffer walking distance to work for a happier, more resourceful, and pleasant stay experience at another hotel.
Upon entry I was blown away, very nice lobby and bar. Super friendly guest services as well. Buuut...the rooms were just so-so. While there was nothing wrong with the room we had it just wasn't "great" could use a lot of work updating the old style furniture (beds included-a bit stiff), wallpaper that will soon be peeling off the walls, and updated lighting would be great starts. But there was free parking in the garage attached so that is a great perk. Plenty of great food and bar options in the area as well. All in all, it's not a bad place to stay.
