My wife and I came here for dinner in a Friday night. The restaurant has great décor and ambience and our server Michael was amazing; very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. My wife ordered the Hendricks Mint Tini to drink and they brought us some cornbread to start. My wife loved the Mint Tini, said it was very refreshing and light. The cornbread is easily the best I've had outside of Mississippi. For our appetizers we got the steamed crab and shrimp dumplings and the roasted fingerling potatoes. The dumplings were fantastic, it made me wish we would have ordered more! Great seafood flavor, tender wrapper, and the ponzu was great. The potatoes were nice and crispy and salty. For our mains, I got the lobster carbonara and my wife got the scallop special with ramp gnocchi and pickled rhubarb. The scallop special was an absolutely delicious dish; the scallops were huge, tender, and flavorful; the ramp gnocchi had a great wild onion flavor and was perfectly al dente; the sauce was delicious and the pickled rhubarb added great contrast to the dish. The lobster carbonara was good, but it wasn't what I was looking for; it is a great creamy seafood pasta dish if that is what you want, but it's missing a lot of the traditional carbonara flavors that I had been expecting. We capped off our dinner with the bread pudding with apple salted caramel sauce and vanilla gelato which was a great end to our meal; not too sweet, perfect amount of salt, great texture. Only complaint is that towards the end of our meal the restaurant got rather loud; we had been enjoying the quiet ambience to that point (we were seated in the more quiet dining room) but at around 7:30 or so there was a rush and it became hard to even think or hear myself.TL;DR Great food and drinks, very friendly service, can get a little loud so maybe come at an off time
Good food and vibe. Somewhat on expensive side. But live music on Sundays afternoon makes it warm and cozy.
This place definitely took me by surprise and it is one of the finest restaurants I've seen in a long time. Atmosphere is amazing the kitchen is the cleanest and most advanced I've ever seen and Chef Reuben knocks it out of the park. Great place to have a wonderful experience
So far our best dining experience since we arrived in NY. The food was amazingly delicious. Oysters were so fresh and tasty. Clam pasta was fantastic. The sauce had so much umami from the clams. And the fish tacos were not the typical tacos u find in Mexican restaurants or dining. It has its special taste combined with its unique spicy red cabbage with a hint of the red onions on top and sprinkles with a splash of lime...mmm hmmm...Not just the seafood were fantastic, we ordered their pork belly for starter and it just hit the spot. So soft and tender. The combination with their chargrilled carrots, interesting mustard sauce with pear puree...it just so out of the world tasty.Service was amazing, the guy who served us at the counter bar was so friendly n sweetDefinitely a place u wanna spend a great time with friends and family
I've been wanting to try Saltaire for years and I have to say that it was a delicious meal! From the Oysters to the Lobster to the many sides (Lobster Mac was outrageous) to the Cheesecake, I was thoroughly impressed. Very good Old Fashioned's as well. Really like the ambiance and vibe in there. The split between a bar and a dining room is an excellent call for a restaurant. I could see why Best of Westchester had Saltaire in the 10th spot. I'll definitely be back!
Love the food here - great seafood and their bread is phenomenal. The ambiance is great as well - modern yet comforting with a great bar scene. The table service is great too - Damian has been our server twice now and we'll be asking for him again. Why I'm giving 3 stars is that - be it a refrigeration problem or a training problem, is that the service at the bar is not the best. While waiting for a table my wife and I ordered drinks. I ordered a dirty martini and it was room temperature. Having been a bartender, these need to be served ice cold and that's how I enjoy them. My wife's drink was not cold either. The previous time here, I ordered a Stolli martini dry on ice and the bartender literally gave me a glass of ice and vodka - no garnish, no vermouth, no nothing.Make me a cold martini (as it should be served - I should have to ask, especially at a seafood place) - properly - and this goes to 5 stars.
This is a nice restaurant, the hostessand coat check professionals were beyond nice, it feels great to be greeted in such a welcoming manner. The food however, was just ok for me. The Calamari had the potential to be great but, the sodium was through the roof. After a little under an hour wait for the entree… The server brought my food with the knife in the entree plate covered in butter sauce… the salmon (my favorite dish) was underwhelming, the veggies were undercooked, bland and just uneventful. The drinks were delicious.
What a fabulous evening and dinner experience. Amazing ambiance with incredible live music that was right down my alley. The oysters were probably the best that I had in over a year. Great variety and all a culinary delight. The Tuna Tartar also hit the spot and was simply outstanding. PortChester is crazy these days and can be described as one large construction site, but Saltaire is the escape from it all and the first restaurant that serves as a great destination in this upcoming new neighborhood. Parking is easy or simply valet. Beth and Les are the finest hosts ever and beside their simply tremendous knowledge about fish and seafood, they also understand to create a dining destination that is worth traveling for. Great time tonight and can’t wait to come back.
always fantastic
The food here was absolutely amazing.
