There simply is no better coffee to be had anywhere. It has made Plattsburgh a destination for me and my wife again. Seriously, we often drive to Plattsburgh simply to get a cup of coffee at Chapter One. That’s not as crazy as it sounds, because we have an electric car and there’s a free charging station diagonally across the street from the coffee shop!
Closest thing to a classic coffeehouse this town has got, supporting local artists!. Nice space and spare but competently equipped.Two beefs:1) the team has little engagement with customers, failing to acknowledge customer or offer any explanation of delays. Older barista guy failed to make eye contact with most customers unless directly asked a question. Other team members on other days were not able to explain with any detail, the roast or the taste of their coffee beans. But what was worse in my mind, was that they seemed to not care.2) the roast and pulls make for bitter lattes, even with 14 ounces of sweet whole milk; even with a risstretto pull (shorter). Bitter is not better. It’s worse. It’s a sign of acidity in beans, or bad roast or too long of pulls. With this team’s training, I’d guess it’s a bit of all three.This reviewer likes espresso, a LOT, and does not like espresso that needs honey and vanilla or white chocolate to make it palatableBest of luck, though. It’s off to a good start after pandemic, and it has good bones. .
Loved it until … I was bullied and harassed by staffWill never step foot back there again after they Humiliated me for not knowing what an americano wasbig whale at the counter started picking on me and laughing at the fact I was unaware of what was what , the entire coffee shop felt uncomfortable I could tell, this woman ruined her business

I’ve been going to Chapter One since they were still in the Plattsburgh Public Library. I miss them in the library but oh my, they have undergone a phenomenal transformation in their new space! Aside from the warm and inviting atmosphere, their staff is friendly, their desserts are delicious, and I LOVE their teas. They also have very good lemonade. This is the perfect spot to study/get work done or just relax. This is the best coffee shop in town.
Daily stop for my growler refill, cold brew is delicious. My fiancé is obsessed with the iced cocoa, great space inside too!
We had an espresso and a cold brew with oat milk and both were delicious. Love the art displayed in this very open space, and the barista was so kind. Extra perk for me was the changing table in the bathroom!
The coffee and lattes at the Chapter One Coffee Shop are amazing! The pastries are really good too and they have good service and respond well with customer requests.
LOVE Chapter One. The coffees and teas are always a ten out of ten! Never have I been let down. Customer service is just as good as the beverages! ❤️
