Go glamping! Best place to experience the outdoors right next to the ocean

Is a remotely quiet camp ground, with built-in luxury tent option. My group tried both and luxury tent option is definitely the option to take. Like other camp grounds, bugs are always a problem. Off the shelf type bug spray doesn't work, and bug bands work slightly better. NO HOT WATER is another big complain among many campers. Restaurant burned down a few years ago, so meal options are limited with the food truck. Aside from the cold shower and bugs, this a very beautiful place to visit. You can hike to nearby town and beaches and they are equally beautiful and interesting.

Campground is great...love being that close to the beach.... The shower/ restrooms could definitely use some repair and upkeep. Don't mind cold showed, don't mind having to pull chain to turn on.... but fix nozzles that don't work ( several), change a light bulb, etc. Why cant there even be a hook to hang a towel or a shelf to put your toiletries on at the sink.... Not very user friendly. Loved the outdoor kitchen and tent dining room! Food was great but a bit slow when busy.

That was my favorite camping experience ever after 10 years of traveling. The camp site are pretty small and there’s not a fire spot for fire, and the showers are cold but besides this the environment is beautiful, the purple sand, the wild trail, sunset, the bay view everything is like eden garden, with butterflies, deers and the sound of the sea all day long

Island vibe with tent sites sprinkled in with the glamping ones. Depending on which one you're at may be cozy w your neighbors & a bit of a walk to the only bathroom and the general store. That's what affords the solitude that makes the trip worth it. Wilderness is close by and of course the mystical Dunes. You can walk for miles with the sound of waves rhythmically surrounding you or head to the temp rebuilt restaurant for weekend live music.

We booked a night of Glamping at Watch hill campground on Father’s Day. High hope and big disappointment. The glamping tent was nice with 2 full beds and bedsheets. They also provided us with a cot. However there was no hot or even warm water in the bathroom and showers. The bathroom and showers are not cleaned. 3 out of the 5 bathroom stalls were out of order. My kids had to take a quick 30 sec cold shower. They are 5 min walk from our campground. Also there was only one restaurant/ bar for burger/ sandwich. Price was high too. Paid almost $250/ night, more expensive than a hotel room. Will NOT go back.

This campground is beautiful and secluded from the hustle of NYC. Once you get here, it feels like you are in a different country. The camp site is not huge and there is no fire pit for campfire. Also, make sure to watch out for ticks and mosquitoes. I even saw a snake too.You cannot drive to this campground. You have to park your car and take a ferry for two ports. We took it from Patchogue Ferry Terminal. The ferry cost $10 per adult per ride.Don’t miss the nature walk if you are here. It’s beautiful, especially at sunset.

Campground is exactly what it needs to be: a place to land for access to the barrier island beach. I've been there a few times over the last decade, and it's maintained in good shape, tho the poison ivy never retreats. Water supply is good, wash station is useful. Bath houses at national seashore are right nearby. Nothing fancy but they're open so far this year (3rd weekend of May). Campsites are generally small, tho a couple are just cherry. All are exposed: sun, bugs, and sometimes wind. The mosquitos weren't out yet for us, and the little gnats nipped at you, but were manageable. Bring your own comfort - shade and screening.Nearby, the staff at the cabana are just great. You could spend a lot of time under those shady canopies, sipping something, ducking out of the sun/escaping the bugs for a spell. It's going to be a great season out there, you can feel it.

Fire Island is beautiful. No other words necessary. But to camp behind a dune that the beach is on the other side of, with the ocean breeze and sound of the surf all night... incredible. Ferry ride across the sound was fun too. Definitely going back.

Loved the scenery and camping.....but BEWARE of the KILLER MOSQUITOES!!! They were relentless, and we were there on a “light” weekend
