Truly saddened to have to right this review, as I was excited to finally check this place out. A group (15+) of us went to The Boat Yard on a Thursday night. After several rounds amongst all of us within the span of an hour I hear a bartender screaming out my first and last name to the crowd. I approached him thinking maybe there was an issue processing my payment method. He proceeded to scream in my face because he was not happy with the tip I left on my drink. I am an avid believer in the importance of tipping and understand that some people unfortunately set their means based on this. However, after tipping several rounds on each drink, I felt the amount given this time was appropriate based on the service provided. What really surprised me was he proceeded to scream at me in front of everyone “I am going to teach you a lesson” & “I know you are young and do not understand how tipping works” etc. etc. Not once asking about the quality of service (which traditionally dictates tip). This behavior is highly inappropriate and disrespectful for obvious reasons. His demeaning and condescending attitude (making assumptions about my age, finding it necessary to teach me a lesson) was off-putting and overall disgusting. He then proceeded to “cut us off” because of the “low tip” (abuse of power) and followed us around all evening when we attempted to speak with a manager. Very upsetting because I was excited to try out this place as it has a great atmosphere. I have never been treated with such disrespect as a customer at any facility. I simply cannot condone or understand how any professional facility would tolerate this behavior by an employee.
One of the bartenders called out and judged us because of our tip. He claimed we were young and needed to learn how to act in a bar setting. He screamed our name out loud after seeing the bill to a crowd of people in an extremely unprofessional manner. He then cut us off from buying more drinks because of this and told the rest of the bartenders as well. A security guard gave us free drink chips after hearing this and said go to another bar. The bartender from before walked all the way from his bar outside and found us and tried to tell them we couldn’t get drinks. The manager was brought out and he the bartender told him I was being belligerent, which the other bartenders could see I was not. The whole situation was completely disrespectful and I will not be attending this place again despite loving tobay beach and being a beach pass owner.
Overall, a fun experience. Food was good, waitress was awesome, and listening to music while watching the sun set was outstanding! The live palm trees in the sand we’re an added plus!
Nice food choices from tacos all the way to pizza and for dessert zepolies. They have a nice big deck for seating the two full bars and two restaurants to eat at. We enjoy coming here for bands. The plus and minus about here are there is less wind because your on the bay side and there are are more bugs again cause your on the bay side. The spicy chicken sandwich and there pepperoni pizza really ain't bad
Good music. They are now charging $10 with a drink buy back to get in when a band is playing. You can't just go to see the live music for free. I guess I won't be going there again.
My husband and I have come here a couple of times. ONE time we lucked out on getting a table. It’s seems like you have to get there super early to sit anywhere. It would make more sense if they had a wait list and you could get a drink at the bar in the mean time. Food was ok, we come here more for the drinks and music. Bartenders are great with getting everyone drinks in a timely manner makes the line go fast!! Great atmosphere just wish they had the seating set up better.
Good bar, nice patio area. Listening to Decadia tonight. Great band. Everyone's having a good time.
Paid $19 for the SMALLEST chicken bowl of my life. In past summers I paid less and the bowls were loaded. Very disappointed and will not be giving them my business again. Really sad because my friends and I liked this place a lot after going to the beach!
We were so exited to be there yoday with the kids and my parents, we drove more than one hour to get there just to find out at the entrance that is just fur residents of oyster Bay the 2 girls there were so rude with us, I am pregnant and it was almost 1:30 I needed to eat and the kids too, thanks God we could go to the Gatsby and eat there.U guys should put it in the web site.
Went there w friends and the food was delicious. I had crab cakes. But the food menu is a bit limited in variety. Alot of seafood, and I have never developed a taste for it. But I tried the crab cakes w a veggie, and I enjoyed it.
