We had the BEST time at The Tailored Tea! The owner makes the most delicious scones, desserts, tea sandwiches. We could not get enough of the tea also so perfect. I recommend this spot to anyone who loves a whimsical atmosphere, tea, scones, a bit of history, and friendly attentive staff and owners. We cannot wait to come back again! The Tailored Tea is a gem.
Adorable environment. Restored 1806 home with original woodwork, floors, etc. Tables are set with closlth tablecloths with lace overlays, China tea cups, cloth napkins. Scones are to do for! Highly recommend for a unique lunch or tea experience, all while watching planes take off.
We went for tea, but ended up having lunch. My daughter and I split the frittata and the veggie sandwich. Frittata was amazing, The veggie sandwich could have used some more pizzazz. A few more vegetables, maybe more hummus, and maybe the bread could have been toasted. My mother had the chicken sausage and that was great. We each had a scone which was delicious. I especially liked the clotted cream and raspberry jam that came with. I would definitely go again.
The afternoon tea was mediocre. The scone was very dry, and the desserts were a combination of dry, hard, and/or not very flavorful. I was really looking forward to trying a cute unique local place but was disappointed and won't be back.
My sister and I went to The Tailored Tea today for Christmas brunch and it was a wonderful and perfect experience. Two hard working and very pleasant servers took care of us and the food was delicious. We also shared a six cup pot of tea called "Pancake," the flavor of which was enhanced with maple syrup and cream (yum). Our lunch was so filling that we didn't have room for dessert. We can't wait to go back. Happy holidays to the owners, chef and staff of The Tailored Tea ?☃️❄
What an amazing young man!He does it all; takes your order, prepares the meal and serves it as well. He's so passionate about the food and it shows in the delicious flavors. I really enjoyed the Red Velvet scones.
The omelet was good; goat cheese, spinach and sausage. The scone was dry, the potatoes overly herbed. Our table was up against a window, dead fly on the dusty ledge, a couple live ones flying about the dirty window. Everything was dusty, the place needs a top to bottom cleaning. The bathroom was dirty, a cleaning spray bottle on the sink and a chemical jug near the toilet. ( health coded violations ). if the front of the house looks like this you don't want to see the kitchen. Skip this place folks.
We were there saturday sept 4th. The tea tasted great, but the pot and the candle holder were scummy with drips from other meals. We ordered the high tea. They served a salad (our choice) and it was good. The tea sandwiches were awful, very stale bread and the cucumber sandwich had a very inedible taste and smell, spoiled perhaps. The sweets were fine, the scones a bit heavy, but we had to take all that home because our appetites were gone.We spent the rest of the day hoping we did not have food poisoning. We did not see any other customers while we were there. The worst part was the awful smell which permeated the whole place, like something rotting. The bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned for a very long time. Quite nauseating and scary.I hope that these problems happened because the owner was away or there was an emergency. Otherwise the public health department ought to be notified and the premises checked for the source of that awful smell.
I love this place! It's so special and unique. The food and tea are amazing, and it's so cozy - with a cool view! Highly recommend as a hidden gem of the area!
I was one of The Tailored Tea’s biggest fans but will never go there again and cannot recommend more highly against your going. Saturday morning, I arranged to meet a friend who had never been there and to whom I had often mentioned how much I enjoyed it.When my Irish breakfast tea was served, it was tepid, like dishwater. When I asked the waitress for a fresh pot, she told me that since Covid, they no longer boil water for tea, but use the water lever in the coffee maker. (This explanation made no sense since it is impossible to see why or how Covid would affect the ability to boil water, either on the stove or in an electric tea kettle, but nonetheless…)Not only was the tea tepid because it was not made with boiling water, Jared, the chef/owner, ARGUED with me about my expecting tea to be made with boiling water, saying that only Americans expect boiling water, that actually in England, tea is served at 180 to 195°. He also said, snidely, that it would have been nice if I had told them we would not be staying before he came out with the food. However, when I had asked the waitress for hot tea and she offered me a second candle to warm the pot—where would a second candle even go?! – I had specifically asked her to talk with Jared because I could not imagine he would offer the same solution. When she reported that he too said they could only offer a second candle, I asked to speak with him personally. That is when he came out with the food and reiterated that they could not provide boiling water and that only Americans expect their tea to be served that way, etc. That is when we decided to leave. First, a place that holds itself out as a tea establishment was unable to serve me a cup of hot tea with my breakfast and thought that was OK. Second the owner/chef never once apologized for that or any of the other minor issues (e.g., my friend’s coffee looked like tea when served). To the contrary, he argued with me, the customer, for having expected a hot cup of tea!Not the way to run a business. Not a business to which I will return.
